I don't know about others, but I for one have had a lot of trouble blocking short swords in the new patch. Chose to make a poll to see what others think could be done to improve the situation.
I for one prefer option number 1 (blocking speed increase).

On side note, increase javelin attack speed! At the moment it's impossible to do a counter attack at swords, even after blocking.
 
It's fine as it is. Maybe you just need a little practice? :wink:

I think it's funny how many people are complaining about blocking 1 handers with the small speed change in this patch when back in the earlier days of the beta all weapons were much faster.
 
I think the block speed when parrying is instant. So if you parry, you don't have anything to worry about as far as block speed.

The problem I think lies with ping. With the new combat speed, ping becomes much more of a factor when blocking than it once was. And the 1-handed thrust is a little bit overpowered in my opinion.

Actually that's the only effective answer to endless 1h/bastard (hello, Destin :wink:) spamming. And it provides a possibility for some nice... hm... combo-strikes when fighting using sword+shield (hello, Rhade :wink:).
 
Block speed should be instantaneous client side like it was before.  That way it doesn't make everything seem slow to the low ping players but gives players with high ping a chance.
 
I voted other, the attack and block speeds are fine (I wouldn't mind faster block, but I don't think it's necessary). Keep attack speed as it is, it's perfect, you have to be able to lash out quickly and unexpectedly. BUT, feinting is too quick. There should be a slightly greater delay to switch between two attack directions. Can be easily done by forcing the feinter to play a very short piece of the block animation (0.1 or 0.2 seconds is enough), because now some fast weapons become close to unblockable if feint-spammed.
 
Parry seems like a VERY ping sensitive thing.  Basic blocking should be accessible even if your ping is a little worse.  Parry should have a greater benefit and is a tool for the good players with low ping.

Yes.. and then he feints. And you're dead.

Parrying is not working too well for me, it often ends a second before they hit me, and it's completely useless against feinting.

Each time you right click, you get a new parry. It's not like you right click, do a parry, and then you're locked in the parry and can't block/parry in another direction.

Actually, you can react to feints faster with parry than with the blocks in my experience.
 
Increase block speed, short swords being fast is pretty cool, but I agree blocking them is usually a pain.
