To be frank I really am not that familiar with freelancer.  Caba's our resident guru on that project.
 
I dont know if this is a bug or what but...
Swadian Vougiers (or however you spell it) are hellishly quick, quick as in they can run 3x faster then any unarmored troop with lvl 5 athletics
and this has only occured on the beta, also seems that swadian pages can also run as fast as horses, i dont know about other units
 
Okay, I am pretty sure there is something wrong about the stats of the I3 swadian vougier in the Expanded troop tree: All aattributes above 100? Agility of 236? I know that he is supposed to be anti-cav, but to make him faster than a horse is a bit op, isn't it?  :razz: (He rann after a fleeing horseman, chaught up and killed him, thats why I checked his stats in the first place  :lol: )
The stats of the Page and the Sergeant-at-arms are weird, too...

I have the same problem,too, as stated in the bug-thread XD

I have the same problem,too, as stated in the bug-thread XD
:shock: I picked the wrong troops for my Swadian army.  Mine usually let the horse catch up to them and then die.

If you're finding them too difficult at low levels that is intended.  As by time you reach your 20's they'll be easier to win, but not impossible at low levels (just very hard).  This is why you can win bets each round, gain renown & xp via achievements and the final payouts are substantially improved.  For those that do not want the tournaments to get easier....turn level scaling on, but I will warn you that once a troop's level is improved there is no lowering it again.

I don't mind it being difficult, or challenging, but being dead before you can take 3 steps because of Archers makes it unfun. It's like every archer of every team focuses on the player. I understand the horses and such being difficult, and I've come in 3rd in the tourneys but the archers and crossbowman just seem a bit overpowered in the tourney.

1 factor for promotion in Freelancer is time served. I am not sure whether relationship with the lord plays a role as well.
 
It seems very well done. The numerous changes... well done. All of em. I have very few complaints. Although, the faces kinda disturb me.
 
In the start up menu, when your creating your new character. They're so different, and so realistic, it kinda doesnt mix with the hair anymore. The hair is still quite native. That hair combines with the faces just doesnt mix. That, and several faces have odd features that just dont agree with me. Some of their ears are oddly colored as well.

Heh yeah i agree about the hair. Sadly we havent found a good replacement kit yet, nor did we have the time (or skill:razz:) to create one ourselves. You can always go bald though :razz:

I figured out something disturbing.
My character is lvl 25 now and i got a good army now with 40+ Swadian Vougier (dont see a reason to upgrade couse they are pretty good) and 25+ Longbowman and 5 companions.
Every enemy faction battle even if they have a lot more troops start running away the moment they lost a few guys.
I had a battle yesterday with Swadia 600 troops vs Nords 900 troops. In the end we (Swadia), kicked their ass losing only 30 guys and them loosing 700. Battle size is set to 200 and the Combat AI to good.
The enemy was always running away, never really fought for a single second although they had the advantage, bigger reinforcements and almost the same tier of troops.
Basically every faction battle except for a siege, i just see them running away the moment i charge and kill about 2 guys.
Cant remember i had this happen in native.

Forgot to mention its the infantry and archers who run. Cavalary usually fights to the end.

I got Formations Battle AI set to Formations AI and Enabled AI to use special orders.
Gotta try without that.
 
Archers are "skirmishing" due to you having special orders enabled. They will try to run away from melee and then stop and shoot once they get to an appropriate distance.

Infantry should not be skirmishing (there's really no way the AI code would be making them do that) but you might be noticing a change in the time-to-rout/run away decision-making that is partly from Warband v1.143 and partly from the formations code.

However, if it is as bad as you make it sound, that could be problematic. Were the Nords mostly archers? (I might need to double check that skirmishers aren't causing other folks to lose morale and give up the fight.)

Actually its the infantry.
It did not notice any change trying different AI settings. Infantry is the problem. For example you have 20 inf and they got 50, about same level. The moment a few of them die they run away. Happens most with nords. Other factions its not that bad but still i can easily win a 3:1 against me with at top 20 losses. I just killed nords 800 against us 200 with us only losing like 20 and they lost almost everyone.

Its not me killing all those guys, i mostly lead troops and maybe make a charge on some archers in the back :smile:

I now know truely how it feels to be one. Before when I recruited them into my army I wouldn't give them any second thoughts if they died, they were just some form of AI code that (For the most part) did what I told them to do. Now though, now I'll try my hardest to keep them alive, and make sure every single one gets upgraded into better units.

And to answer your question, why? Because I choose to start in Rhodok lands, and God help me if I ever have to use a pitchfork to fight in real life. There's just no such thing as easiest mode for real life. :sad:
