Beta Patch Notes v1.2.0-v1.2.6

Users who are viewing this thread

All I see is people who are completely ignorant and disrespectful.

1) Mods have never been an obligation in the world of video games, many companies even block their access to maintain a monopoly on new features. Criticizing Taleworlds on this aspect is really inflated.

2) The logic of "untapped potential" is truly grotesque... Where do you think this potential comes from? There was work before, right now, and apparently after. Bannerlord did not appear by the force of the holy spirit, a minimum of respect for this "potential" would be more deserved.

3) Code a real project once in your life, even just a website from scratch, then you can give lessons in branches and development. Especially since no one forced you to play on unfinished versions, it's YOUR choice and an opening from Taleworlds.

4) It is also YOUR choice to have purchased the game in the condition you knew it. Future plans were announced 1 year ago, so you knew what wasn't there and what might happen later. Stop looking for culprits and take responsibility for your own choices. Isn't it going fast enough? Refer to point 3.

5) This topic has reached a critical level of disrespect (I even saw a finger pass not long ago...), thank you to the TW moderators for doing something.
Damn how much are TW paying you to defend them like your life depends on it

Every time I see a mob of 'recruits' rushing to their defense I think it's just alt accounts of those who shall not be named.
It is very suspicious I must admit, I find it hard to believe anyone that's sane of mind would be happy enough with the state the game is currently in. Like it's incredibly strange to me that they are defending a company who's entire policy of communicating with one of their player bases (console specifically) is complete silence and zero transparency beyond the absolute bare minimum (patch notes).

It is hard to believe then again I've found that there are way more people than one might think who are more than willing to lick a corporation's boots for no other reason than they might notice their existence (they never do). A certain type of person who aligns with whatever passes for authority without a second thought because they're a 'good boy' or that's 'just what heroes do' or something else ridiculous.

Name one respectable game
Your qualifier makes the entire exercise pointless. What you define as "respectable" surely won't match my definition, and I'm sure the reason would vary depending on any example I could give. You've already dismissed GaaS, and so you would likely dismiss any and all MMOs which are the most obvious examples of games with two public-facing, concurrently updated versions (one "live," and the other for testing). I won't be pulled into a bad-faith argument.

Must be on some other forum then. Here the only thing i see console players ask is when beta comes stable. Thats like asking how long a rope is.

As a console player I was living my life happily without this game (i had played warband in the past for a couple hundred hours or so) until I saw the Youtube video for the 1.2 update that said console had cheata back in June.

I then bought the game based off essentialy misinformation. Since this happened I have gone back and re watched the video because I was obviously frustrated that I bought something I felt was misrepresented to me (i.e. console having cheats). My conclusion was that to an average, run of the mill console player, that youtube video is exceptionally lacking when it comes to explaining that these features are not available to console yet.

This was disappointing.

As for the people defending TW, most of them I feel are people above the rank of recruit, so it seems they have gotten a better title for all their efforts. Yes yes, I know you were not bestowed that title recently just for defending TW, dont attack me please.

While the video does explain that 1.2.0 features are on the steam beta branch at the beginning, I think you are right that it could be made more explicit f.e. by repeating this in the console specific feature section ("please note that these will only be available after the beta update is released to live etc"). This is something we can improve upon in future updates.

I understand that people are excited about these features and that is fundamentally a positive thing. Believe it or not, we are also excited to share our work with players. Still, there is no magic button that will create a sufficiently stable build - it simply takes time and effort. We could share the beta build later in development and communicate what we are working on later, but that would only create the illusion of you receiving it faster / having to wait less from the point of knowing about it (while in reality the reduced beta collaboration may well extend the overall time or lead to a less stable live release). Similarly, I assume everyone is agreed that the beta shouldnt make it to live with significant known stability or performance issues.

What is clear is that you will receive these changes. It also won't be years before that happens.

Ahh okay thank you for this information. I just hope it will not be too long. The thing is, obviously I like this game, I just want to be able to play what I thought I would be playing basically.

Is this the only game you've played in the last decade? Simultaneous live and test versions are a common practice across the industry. Find something real to be upset about, and post in a different thread about it. If you come back with more of this nonsense, it will be the last time for a while.
166 days online? On THIS FORUM?? Step outside, touch some grass dude.

You do realize he joined in the year 2005 right? Not to mention he's a Global Moderator. I guess something as simple as logic or common sense doesn't exist in your vocabulary.
18 years on a forum? My comment still stands, dude needs to meet the sunlight.

So how much longer should we expect to be waiting before the update goes live?

Obviously there are train wreck games and projects out there, this is one of them, that was the point.

Clearly.

A distinct sign that your predominantly single-player game with PvP modes is doing well: Comparing it to MMO's/live service games to justify a multi-decade of development hell.
devs, hurry up
Every time this gets asked the gravity triples where they work. Rookie mistake.

Just give console players an ETA? It isn't hard surprisingly every developer in history has a managed to give it's players an ETA without this mystical illusion of it coming sooner than expected that you speak of

I mowed my back lawn yesterday, does that count? Can't mow the front, I landscaped it all with stones, shrubs, and flowers years ago when it became clear my neighbors weren't going to do anything about the weeds in their yard. Forget touching grass, go pull some weeds.

I know, right? It works out to something like 30 minutes a day. I admit, though, that I make the mistake of coming to a forum to read, so it takes a little more of my time.

It's not my game, though, and I don't have any personal stake in defending it. All of the moderators here are volunteers from the community. There's a plethora of valid reasons to criticize the game and TW's track record of developing it, but the live vs. beta version thing isn't one of 'em, and this isn't the appropriate thread for that kind of feedback.

@Duh_TaleWorlds
Regardless of the seemingly countless folks issues, I just wanted to say (exclusively as a console player (PS5)) that the only issue I have come across ingame personally was a crash related to clan-member formation commencing an engagement... which was bug-fixed at some point I wasn't watching for, so thank you.

I also wanted to state that I, and I'm sure others, are only desiring of "Disable Aging" to make it to consoles. Don't know how few or many, but we more simple folk are around out here quietly watching and less outspoken like the rest. Do not get discouraged by the outcry of mods and mod-breaking, as these aren't even on console and bringing consoles to parity with PC vanilla features is a solid goal and we're eagerly awaiting them.

Keep up the solid bug-fixing, and we all hope a quick release to live is near.

P.S. just a little note, food for thought. "Disable Aging" truly is the only thing a lot (not all, but alot) of us console players are impatient for. If this feature alone is able to be added to the menus in a small hot fix, I would love for you to forward the suggestion to the development team and maybe to see if such a thing is possible via hot fix. Again, just a thought and a suggestion. I, and I reckon another of other console players, would get a lot quieter very quickly if it were possible.

Sincerely, the forum lurker who is only here because of this one feature. Cheers!

I agree about disable aging!! Also, I would add that console players are eager for those 15 cheats as shown in the update YT video.
