Beta Patch Notes e1.5.7

Would be nice to be able to recruit elite troops from Castles. Right now they're so useless and nobody wants them, interesting to add a dynamic to it.

One thing I don't like about this is that there is no way to begin changing villages over to a new culture.
Agreed.

I think a cultural percentage that changes over time would would make sense. When a unit spawns to be available to recruit, it could have its spawn determined by the current cultural percentages.
-Occupying a fief will slowly convert a population towards the occupiers culture.
- Perks should increase this speed; maybe the charm tree secondary effects could have some governor effects that increase cultural shift.
- There could be a slot for cultural buildings that slowly convert the population, similar to how it is implemented in the total war series.
-Or... maybe we could get an option to make village buildings/upgrades!

This is also something that I haven’t been able to understand, that is why castles don’t have more functions.
They absolutely should have notables with their own recruitments.
@mexxico, is there any chance this could be implemented and the notables here have the higher power ratings you were describing?

Just like we have “headsman”, maybe we have “Garrison commander”
Instead of landowner it could be other various roles we see in castles (training master, castelan, stablemaster...)

Squad speed on the global map has been reduced too much ... Khuzait should have been nerfed. But the speed was lost the most by those people who increased the speed of the squad at the expense of horses in their inventory. I think we need to increase the speed bonus from perks. AI weakly recruits mercenaries when it loses a war: after two in-game years, I have squads of mercenaries on the map that have never been hired. In version 1.3.1, mass hiring of mercenaries often saved AI from complete defeat. I believe that the losing AI should be more active in hiring mercenaries.

That would be ideal but Mexxico's version will do, a good improvement compared to the uselessness of castles right now lol

- I'm playing with the "Leveling Balancing" mod. It makes leveling feel much more reasonable and less painfully grindy. You should look at it.
yes, PLEASE. Balancing leveling progression is literally the ONE thing I need to enjoy this game... if you give me a good character progression (with no reduced exp gain when you level-up pls...) then I literally don't need much to keep myself entertained for a while :/ Literally all I need are working perks (please introduce the never defect perk in roguery already), and fixing leveling progression so it's actually fun and not so horribly grindy to level skills...

Literally, don't make it too easy - make it more consistent, more reasonable amounts of grinding (LESS EXP REQUIREMENTS LATER ON AND MORE IN THE BEGINNING - no 30 exp required for skill 1... and no 20,000+ for later skills either :/). Just an enjoyable system that let's you level up most of your skills if you want to until late-game when your character dies. Just a good progression, I beg of thee... Current one is not good and many people are agreeing!

Amen brother.

I'm having trouble opening the game ... Steam closes after clicking start the game, closes before even seeing the screen of choice ... one or more players... Help-me...

Have you tried verify cache integrity of game files. Right click on the game in steam, properties, local files verify integrity of game files. This has fixed this issue a couple of times for me.

I edited original post and gave numbers. Currently 13% of village notables give elite troops if this suggestion is added new ratio will be 21%. So no big change. Still 79% of village notables and 100% of town notables will give regular troops.
It makes sense that noble troops should come from wealthy landowners in my opinion. What about increasing the percentage of landowners with 200+ power?

I'd prefer that you don't. There are quests, trading, etc. that I would like to do during peace time.
+1

It also allows npc lords to regroup and build up some better quality parties, so better battles instead of steamrolling lots of recruits.

As a matter of fact, i think Druzhinniks take exactly 10% of my current party because i just don't care about them that much.
Same for me . Why I need this druzhinnik if I can get horse raider easily. Horse raider have javelins, and that's why this unit better than druzhinnik

Something is just not right with this game as it relates to Steam. I've had it: Uninstall on its own, twice. I've seen the problem you're describing where it just fails to start. And we have to do this file integrity check all the time. WTF is going on?

Anyway, when I had your issue, uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. I had to switch from one branch to another and then back to the branch I wanted. That fixed it.

Why I need this druzhinnik if I can get horse raider easily.
it's also about resources management. i'm lacking warhorses now, badly. half of my brigands can not be upgraded to raiders as of yet, i buy all Khuzait lands have to offer but i still do not have enough warhorses. And there is my heavy cav which also needs the very same resource. Why should i pick Druzhinnik over Raider? Yes, my heavy cav last longer in the army on army battles, sure, but it's Raiders and Brigands who deliver that first devastating strike with their javelins, as bad as they are now.
Yes, i guess it's thematically right to have such a limited number of heavy cav, but if take ancient Rus as reference, to have a Druzhina is to demonstrate a certain, signifiant level of authority, and yes limited number of Sturgian heavy cav kinda reflects that, but in the reality of the game Druzhinniks really not that powerful to justify resources wasted on them and the upkeep. Raiders and Brigands, however, they are easy to raise, they do their job just as you would expect them to. Overall regular sturgian cav is just an overall better choice.
For Vlandia... yeah i would prefer Banner Knights over Vanguards, but it's not that important because neither of those are real killers.
I kinda wanna try Aserai pt, i think their noble-liners kick some serious ass, but i just don't like the aesthetics of Aserai... Khuzait... and Battania

Bugs:
- Still seeing some naked lords/ladies.
- The deliver troops to garrison quest doesn't seem to work. No success after giving them to the garrison and no option in conversation to finish the quest.
- I'm seeing more crashes now than in any other release.
The second bug isn't broken, there is a seperate option on the menu when you go to the castle or town to speak with the Sergeant to donate troops, you don't donate directly to the garrison.

One more thing about druzhinniks. To level them up from infantry you need to waste horse and after only one level a warhorse. Why though? Why not warhorse at once from veteran varyag?
For example you can recruit vlandian squire and aserai youth already on mount.

I am really curious if there's any plans to make trading more enjoyable and viable.
First of all , it's slow to level up. Maybe give some ''passive'' xp if you have active caravans ?
Secondly and most importantly for me , money is pretty trash - compared to everything else , like battles , smithing , marrying to strip your wife naked , or even TOURNAMENTS , lmao. And no , this is not about the spring of gold cap/nerf , to me this is one of the few perks that is nice to have and it still feels powerful.
It currently feels like Trading is only worth it for the first 2 , max 3 perks ( 50-75 skill level ) and then dump it.
Most of the other perks feel almost useless , and with this leveling pace , i believe you need many years or even decades of full mode dull trading to get the sexy capstone.
My latest playthrough , was my saddest experience in bannerlord so far. Tried to go full trading mode with almost no fighting.
The beginning almost got me depressed , it was too hard not to go broke.
I used all the known legit methods to maximise profit. Small party, minimise gear upgrades, old work horses from villagers, known trade routes etc.
After quite a while , managed to get 3 caravans + 3 workshops going + my own trading. Gold earning was so random ( mostly trash ) that i was barely able to sustain a party of 50 cav and was earning less than 1000g per day , sometimes i even went negative. That was no decent reward for how hard the early game was.
Meanwhile i could just smith a few weapons , jump from town to town and empty their banks easily. I realise smithing is broken , but even compared to battles , the gold earning from trading is NOWHERE near , which is WRONG. Going trading mode + making smart choices should be one of the best ways to make money , it only makes sense that way , otherwise what's the point.

Sorry for the whining , it's just such a shame. The trading feature honestly seems promising since EA , you've done all the hard part of the codework , i don't get why it needs to be so underwhelming , while only a few minor tweeks could turn the tide easily.
