Beta Patch Notes e1.5.3

Should check my edit on that post. After playing more and keeping a closer eye when it happened, it was indeed the autosaving. I was originally mistaken.

He has every right to try to clear up the confusion about the issue, lest we send TW after the wrong issue. So far no one else has provided evidence of their claims, I even tried to go find evidence of my own to support my claim but was proven otherwise.

I saw that edit of yours and edited my post accordingly/removed the quote.

Regarding trying to clear up confusion, this is exactly my point. While some users may have experienced lag when the game recently autosaves more often, I and others started to get lags in the 1.5.2 patch aswell. These lags were on occations where autosaves presumably occurs (for example after a battle), as well as in seemingly unrelated scenarios (just clicking on the map while travelling, changing menu options in town screen). While autosave may very well be A reason for the lags introduced in the recent patch, as people have posted there situations where they experience newly introduced lags as well, which may have different reasons, related or not.

Not sure what you mean by providing evidence of the issue. People have been describing the context where they experience lags, since a recent patch. Some people have described how they stopped the lags happening for them. What kind of evidence are you thinking of?

Hope this gets pushed out to the main branch this week, looking forward to maxing out the archery tree in my next campaign.

Yes but describing the context does not validate the claim. I described the freezing issue as something other than the autosave issue because I was convinced in my playtime that I had experienced this lag that was unrelated to autosaving. What I had failed to realize is there are now moments where the game autosaves where it did not previously which threw me off.

What im saying is unless you can provide evidence that there is something else other than autosaves causing this issue(I.e. a moment of clear hangup that does not produce a autosave right after), your claims could be a mistake like mine. If you can provide more than anecdotal evidence, the devs could actually do something (make a tech report if you actually can find it).

This is the most recent tech report on it and no one really could provide evidence otherwise

Yes, I was doing the same last night and on each occasion I checked there was an autosave - even in circumstances I didn't expect one (e.g. just travelling across the map not interacting with anything). I have had sessions recently where it has still seemed much more frequent than last night's, but that's not evidence.

Anyway, just got my first Windows BSOD in a long time while clicking 'done' in the game... :O
(Hopefully there was an autosave not too long prior ).

internal.test.a just got updated:

I think we're going to see a new beta, boys.

You are a hawk, lets hope you are right

We just made a small hotfix to the beta branch. It's mostly the fixes from the hotfix that went to main last Friday:

Beta Hotfix (e1.5.3 - 13/10/20)
  • Added missing loading screens for Multiplayer maps.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when a save file loaded on village menu and tried to enter the mission in tutorial phase.
  • Fixed a bug that caused villager parties to go to a castle or town while disbanding.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some nobles to talk like the main hero's brother.
  • Fixed the not being able to log in issue which was related to BattlEye.

Thanks for the link. While I appreciate we all have the goal of enabling TW to fix bugs, and look for them to get TW to fix them, I am not sure I understand your point about validating any claims.

What about the claim that stutters are related to autosaves makes it more vaildated than other claims in your eyes? In the very thread you linked to, somebody has written that the lag feels like autosaving to them, but they do not find a corresponding autosave file. Does that falsify the claim that the stutters are related to autosaves? Does it not? If so, why? It's all people posting their experiences on the forums (plus your own experience in checking, I appreciate the thoughness).

To cut things short, my point in this that while the stutters may be related to autosaves or may not be, or maybe partially are, I have not seen any more conclusive evidence pointing towards either option.Different people have reported both impressions. Therefore concluding that infact, campaign lags are just autosaves is IMO not a justified conclusion. Plus, I have not seen TW confirming anything in that direction, or even asking for more specific data.
