Beta Patch Notes e1.5.3

That sounds kinda boring... I don't think that on the World Map, a terrain without a "forest" would indicate a battle terrain without a single tree. It just means a not "forested" landscape.
It's not boring, its called tactics. I hear you but a good portion of the world map is flat and most of the time you get the same scene with mountains, small hills and trees. It's very annoying because I deliberately try to fight on flat areas on the world map with no trees so you'd naturally expect to get a scene with no trees and yet I still get scene with hills and trees.

The point is why is it so hard to add a few scenes with nothing in them but a flat ground and some grass. Just ground and grass. OK a few trees here and there, that seems like a 5 min job, no?

TW, if you're listening, please on the next patch, add a few scenes that are flat with no trees.
This "map selection based on your terrain" logic is one of the lamest idea they come up with for Bannerlord. And their justification for this is a joke tbh.

If they would say "We somehow messed up something so we cannot generate terrains on demand in Bannerlord for some reason" - even that would be understandable but saying that "we are making terrains by hand to make them unique and exciting etc" is nothing but going back to 90's where games don't have procedural generation and have to simulate that feeling by rotation etc ( which is not even something Bannerlord has at the moment. Also they are not making "a lot of terrains" as they promised and advertised in their blogs - so apparently its not that easy as they claim )

Its also funny that this was in the game already since 2008's Mount And Blade as far as I remember.
Yes terrain generation had its flaws like weird slopes etc but it's still better than unexpected random scenes over and over again. The campaign itself is already boring with being a Clicklord - and since they are not very lean towards adding more content to that, we should be at least able to have fun with proper battles/sieges

Honestly, I am sick of fighting battles always in forests and hills. If it would be 50-50% that would be acceptable but always forested hills. What a nonsense. Just watch some historic battles. They were most of the time picking open terrains for big battles.
I don't know whose idea was to make "the game interesting" this way, but I would really appreciate some normal open terrain battles.

I am pretty sure their main objective is to generate procedural generated battle maps based on the terrain type. Actually, it was present on the first patches of the game after EA release. They had to take that feature off because of bugs.

Do you guys have generosity trait leveling up so fast ? I'm at autumn 5 1084 and my generosity trait already at level 2 . It started after I paid ransom to sea raiders when they got me.

I never had a lot battle in forests. Sadly, always snow, tundra or desert. Forest happend not a lot to me. Sadly. I really like it to run with full speed on my horses between the trees or shoot behind a tree and use the tree as my shield
But it looks like it depend a lot where you play. I don't have this much forest regions. Mostly only in battania and a little bit in empire.
For me it works, maybe with luck, very well in open terrain, with open maps. And in forest with forest maps.
I have even battles in villages, when i fight an army near a village, without doing anything to the village. This is amazing! Found this the first time after 100 hours ingame. So battlemaps work very well for me. You only have to avoid forests and no forest map (in my case)

I'm in EA and Beta almost since from the beginning and haven't seen such a thing. I haven't seen anything like that or any similar pointer in the code when I check it as well.
Could you tell me the origin of this information? I haven't seen any statement about them saying they will bring back procedural terrain generation as well.

I mean cool but a month wait for a bunch of bug fixes? When are we going to get actual new content?
I still hope they work on this silent. I mean they need something to show when the version is finished. A lot of games which leave ea have a very very big update with a lot of new stuff. Maybe they don't release anything in ea. Besides fixes. Maybe they would release everything on the release date, to have something why they leave the ea and get new customers.

Am i the only one when I create a party? Companion don't have name... In my current game, new companion which theyr are new created are no name either...
Probably the names just flee away, given that they are all French

Yeah, thats possible. I am mainly fighting on Battanian teritory atm. Yet, if I am chasing a smaller party which I would steamroll with cav and archers, I want to be able to choose the best terrain. Especially when my party is lot faster and I can wait for proper terrain. Yet, no matter if I hit on them on clearing still there are too many trees...

Havent been following too closely to Dev's responses and outlook but what is the deal with such limited battle scenes? Scenes are extremely easy to create relatively speaking yet we have so few -what gives? Really makes the game feel monotonous

I think they said they wanted to fix AI pathfinding before making new maps.

Yes. Not sure what triggered it, but it's at 2. I'm used to the longstanding bug that reverts your starting traits to zero, so ready to patiently build up honour, generosity and mercy again, but generosity has sorted itself out .

I hate to raise this one again - but anyone finding village quest frequency feels to have dropped again?

I get a handful of 'needs help with bandits', and have had 1 'Art of the Trade' quest; but haven't seen a single 'Train the Troops', 'Extortion' or 'Grain' quest at all (175 days - about half of that is 1.5.3). Just doing a circuit of Battanian villages to get some numbers, but has felt low for quite a while now.

Town quests are fine - fairly regular Escort Caravan/Caravan Ambush/Army of Poachers quests (I ignore the gang ones).

edit: So in a quick circuit of 31 Battanian culture villages (2 others were raided), there was 1 Train the Troops, 1 Help with Bandits, and 2 Landowner needs Manual Labourers quests. That's the first Train the Troops I've seen all game, and still no Grain or Extortion quests. Thinking back, I've probably seen a few 'Landowner' quests over the course of the game but I ignore those. There were 1 or 2 family feuds very early in the game and 1 'Inn and Out' which I ignored (probably before 1.5.3). I've completed 7 'needs help with bandits' quests, which I always take (and will check each village around a hideout to maximise them), 1 'Art of the Trade' quest - and a few town quests.

They fixed a bug with it never being raised, now it increases with food variety high morale.

I tried a new playthrough last night. I have the same feeling as you it took me the same time to get my first workshop, as it did on my last start. think I had 2 train the troops in first 15 days travelling around Empire lands. No grain quests at all, so something not quite right.

I've joined the company a little more than a month ago after being in the community for quite a few years. Hope you won't mind me chipping in every so often, ey?

I can see you're backing up Callum with some very important stuff! I appreciate all the effort for Bannerlord and community, thank you for the patch notes and communication.
