Refactoring the code is kind of like fixing up the foundation of a building. Once it's done, you're going to have to rehang some doors and replace some floorboards, but it's gonna be straight and solid once the work's done.

So, basically, you'll have to almost re-develop the game...

Sorry but reworking something from the ground up does not automatically mean that it will be solid and all faults will be removed. You can still mess it up....

I wouldn't describe refactoring code as changing the foundation necessarily and it certainly doesn't mean "re-develop the game."

I think of it more like remodeling your kitchen because it is dated, **** is broken, and it isn't an efficient use of space. "You know, if we changed the layout of this kitchen to put an island in here and moved the stove over here this kitchen would be much for efficient. While we're at it, we can change these old ugly cabinets and install a wine fridge." This, of course, means you might have to redo and upgrade some plumbing and some electrical work, which are "foundational" in some sense.

These are healthy activities for a large code base and can help address code smell. I just would not have expected it so early in EA but sometimes you just come to a conclusion that parts of the code have expanded organically and don't fit together well.

Yeah I think fixing the foundation is a bad metaphor. It's like editing a term paper. You re-read it, remove pointless content that weakens your points, fix logical inconsistencies, maybe double check some of your references. It doesn't take as long as researching and writing the first draft of the paper, but it is still time consuming and difficult.

I had a dream today where the code refactor put Bannerlord in an endless cycle of postponing new patches. Whenever code refactor was finished, major bugs were claimed to have appeared and then a new code refactor happened. An endless cycle.

PLEASE find a way to stop entire groups of infantry turning their backs to the entire enemy army to chase after one horse archer or a couple of cavalrymen. It's the most frustrating and immersion breaking thing that happens in battles, maybe in the game.

March your precious elite group of infantry up the the enemy lines, order them to 'advance' so they move forwards in formation rather than 'charging' and having them run in all directions to 1v1... look away for a few seconds to give other orders or fight, see the red cascading down the right hand side of the screen, look back to see your formation with their backs to the enemy running after one or two blokes on the other end of the field (who are already being pursued) as they are cut to pieces by the arrows shooting into their backs. It's maddening and just spoils fun battles.

Anyone else thinking today could be the day?

I'm happy to be wrong but I don't. They uploaded three different test builds yesterday night. If they had a release candidate it would likely be one test build.

EDIT: Come back Friday.

I don't expect a patch for the entire month.

I do....
Contrary to others who think that TW's developers are just lazy f*** sitting on their money

I truly believe they are working their buts of, trying to get the train on track again....
Certainly looking at all the build numbers they have released sofar

They're in an Islamic country. Excellent chance they may release on Thursday. Unlikely they're going to release Friday. The work week is usually going to be Sunday-Thursday for normal businesses.
If the devs are saying "soon" I'm sure they'll at least implement their code tweaks in the next week. Hopefully that means more regular content updates for the rest of the month!
I don't care if the devs finish this or if it's completed by mods. It has a fun combat engine and a good premise. Only game I can be bothered to play.
Wouldn't expect much to happen at the end of the month through first week of August though, they'll have Eid...Or whatever it's called there.
