Beta Patch Notes e1.4.1

Hey guys, we just shared another hotfix for the beta branch. It includes the following:
  • Fixed an issue that caused several policies to be activated when the player is a mercenary and goes to the kingdom screen for the first time.
  • Disabled the "leave kingdom" button in the clan screen for player kings for the time being as it caused crashes after some time.
  • Reintroduced a minimum truce period of 20 days for AI kingdoms.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to get stuck when they accepted a peace decision while in a siege event.

Hi I am not receiving any of the hot fixes and I am in the beta branch, is there a reason for this?

Do not waste much time with Diplomacy because It is currently bugged. Not sure if It is bugged when you have your own kingdom, but It is broken if you play as vassal ir mercenary. Hopefully we will get a fix for this soon now that TW is aware of the issue.

At this point I am convinced the TW QA team only consists of sole Some GuyTM who is given 10 minutes to test the builds before they go to the beta branch as the other option is not as generous one as it would mean they know these obvious to spot issues exist and push the update anyways intending to fix it later so that the playerbase does not feel like a patch drought is upon them especially now that there quite literally, is a meaningful patch drought. I'd understand if this was their not-yet-made-public alpha branch, but with beta branch I'd expect mostly those edge cases that are harder to catch in internal testing.

Guess I shouldn't be wondering why the alpha branch hasn't yet been made public if this is the state of beta branch. Obvious issues with even more obvious fixes, breaking mods by making code changes that at least to me seemed like change for the sake of change (probably refactoring or whatnot, something that shouldn't belong in a hotfix), something that itself wouldn't be harmful, but the fact that such a change was not even mentioned in the patch notes nor did TW think it might be wise to at least increase the version number so that you had more easier way of staying off from the latest update till mod creators get to update their stuff, but hey, at least I was prepared for that one when I clicked that "Betas" tab on Steam, but I can still be disgruntled about it.

Anyways, I hope that TW fixes up their act be it by the means of improving communication (like patch notes) or whatever it is that they pursue and most importantly, should pursue.

I am quite convinced that they don't have QA team at all. Those who play beta branch are QA testers.

That is the only explanation of how utterly broken diplomacy is right now on 1.4.1.

I've been testing. Random war declarations and hate everywhere are still there but now you can play the game. Tribute + truce feels a powerful mechanic. Once the truce period ends another war gets declared but you use tour influence + money to stop it to continue growing your empire. Each truce requires at least 100 influence plus all the influence needed to override your stupid vassals hungry for war, so even you can manage the situation it is not free at all.

The mechanic feels a bit uninmersive because the wars still feel random with no Casus Belli or reasons behind them. In my game my kingdom faces between 4 and 7 wars. I need to sign truce with Vlandia, Western Empire and Kuzhait as they are really powerfull kingdoms capable of conquering my 6 towns in 2 game weeks. So I spend my resources in freezing those wars while enjoy playing and try (no success by now) to get more vassals.

By the time a get some more help in my kingdom my influence costs will rise so maybe there will come a day when I won't be able to have these 3 simultaneous truces.

There is still a big problem with war declarations. I am an honorable king, never raided, I treat well my friends and better my enemies, only betrayed once and it seems everybody wants war on me...

By the way to grow my kingdom I need money, lots of money, LOTS, looking at how much fills the agreement bar i will need from 1 to 3 millions per vassal. I think if I get to improve relations above 50 it could be easier to handle but it is not an easy task as I need to help lords against bandits, make expensive gifts and fight crime in their towns or the rarely event when a Lord has a quest for you. I feel like I have to play at least 20 hours grinding relationship to finally have a chance to grow my kingdom. At least it is possible thanks to truce mechanic.

I'm overall satisfied with this solution until we have a more polished system.

Just some tips! Its much easier to get vassals if you have defeated a few of that factions armies. Also the higher charm you have the easier. Relations seems to make little difference!

Hey everyone, we just shared another hotfix for the beta branch. It includes the following
  • Fixed an issue that blocked the AI from declaring wars normally. It is now no longer locked to the player entering the diplomacy screen.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed your faction to make peace without your vote.
  • AI should be more likely to declare peace if the war is taking a long time.

I have detected a new bug. every time you start a new campaign, Aserai makes peace with sourthern empire or declares a new war on the first day. Not a big deal but it looks like it is not working as expected. Going to report the bug in the Technical Support subforum.

This is great, could you also please confirm that the Weapon Skills bug is being looked at and will be hotfixed soon or in the next beta branch? It may not be very impactful in the general scale but it is a game breaking glitch with the AI simply being on par with using a god hack with that slash speed. It is very frustrating and well documented weeks ago.
