Beta Branch e1.1.0

I think the xp gain with this beta build (on a new save) is outstanding. It doesnt feel too fast to me at all. AI cavalry still seem to be derping about quite a lot though, at least in tournaments.

Thank god i`ve saved Debana`s old face, this new one seems to have been done for the new Toy Story movie...

Other
  • Various other fixes to troop trees and stats.
Does anyone have any specific details on this bit? I'm still noticing a fair few "anomalies" with troop stats in the encyclopedia (assuming that those numbers are accurate, and represent the actual troop stats). Things like...

1) Battanian Picked Warriors having high 2h/bow skills, despite not utilizing those weapons, and very poor stats otherwise (besides athletics).

2) Battanian Trained Spearmen having 130 riding and only 80 athletics, though they're infantry. Athletics actually downgrades 30 points from the previous tier (Picked Warriors, which have the aforementioned incorrect stats).

3) Redshanks (bow-archers) still having 130 crossbow skill but only 100 bow skill. (Also seems like Kerns are oddly placed in that troop tree, given that they're not really archers).

4) Sturgian Archers seem to have their Athletics and Riding skills reversed.

5) Sturgian Shock Troops have ~30% lower skills than Sturgian Veteran Warriors, despite being same-tier alternatives to one another. I haven't personally used either of these units, so perhaps there's a valid reason for this gap in skills? The armor and equipment don't appear very different from the visuals available in the encyclopedia.

6) Sturgian Warrior Sons, Varyag, and Varyag Veterans could probably use a bit of a bump in athletics, since they don't actually become cavalry until the last 2 tiers.

7) Imperial Crossbowmen and Sergeant Crossbowmen both have higher bow skill than crossbow skill.

Fighting looters is already much better than it was. The stones accuracy was reduced in the past, and if really this cause any ridiculous problems, they can nerf them further if there's enough serious complains from players experience.

What it means mostly for me is fighting mounted archers will be much less of a pain in the ass and archers will feel less useless than they were against cavalry... so I guess it also means you if you're doing just that; shooting looters from your horse (but I disagree that kiting looters with a horse and bow should be an easy win all the time). Though maybe ''ranged units'' specifically means units that are bowmen/crossbowmen/javelin boys (which would be preferable).
and what it means mostly for me is that the one thing khuzait have going for them is reduced to ashes (and even then really only in open fields which is rare as 75 percent of the bloody map is forested)

Design & Balance
  • Headshot damage multiplier is increased from 1.7 to 2 for pierce damage.

I don't think this is a good decision, if you want to increase the damage bows/crossbows/javelins deal with headshots you should give a bonus just to those weapon types instead of giving it to all piercing damage sources. With this change you're also unnecessarily buffing spears, and it won't allow weapons that deal piercing damage with swings to ever exist in a reasonably balanced state (remember how broken the highland mace used to be before its damage was changed to blunt).

Yeah, and Imperial xbows are still better with bows.

How do they consistently **** this up? Is it not a simple XML edit to replace values?

I loaded my save from 1.0.9 with beta branch 1.1.0 All seems to go well, but my character and my companions were getting insane ammounts of levels (20+ increases in hability). I think it was catching up bc before they didn't level correctly? Now it seems to stabilize and gain xp 1 point at a time.

You are not supposed to use your old savegame with this patch.

Anyone is experiencing that the UI menus (inventory and party) and you is a lot darker? I try adjusting brightness, it helped, but in battles is a lot lighter now.

What makes you say that ?

The changes they made are big with this patch, it stands to reason that old savegames will not be compatible. I always start a new game with each new patch myself, but for this one it's a no brainer honestly. Especially since it's a beta branch and as such less stable.

If you want to keep playing your old save don't opt into the beta branch. Otherwise start a new game.

This is a huge update, and i will be definitly be glad to try and help testing the beta branch. (So guys you hear it is BETA branch, yes early access, i'm pointing fingers at those whining about EA and all related issues...)

my savegame was completely compatible. And there aren't a lot of reports of saves being broken.
