best way of speeding up m&b, increasing FPS?

Hey i've got a pretty crappy PC, and i just dont have enough money to buy a new one. Maybe i'll build one. idk.

anyways, in yalls experience whats the best way to increase the battle size to as much as you can without lowering the graphics to a really low level? i know decreasing the body count helps alot, but lets face it.... we all love to see the bodies strewn accross the battlefield. so does anyone have any insights? any secrets that help out with FPS? or just speeding up an old PC?

shadows? ok good to know. and yeah how can you not love corpses

unfortunately you can not have your cake and eat it too.

Either you are going to have all the bells and whistles and a low FPS

or you can get rid of the bells and whistles and raise your FPS.

One thing that may help was the mod to remove leaves from trees.

You could say limit the corpses to 40? Admittedly the battlefield doesn't look that good without the hundred or so dead people with wounds in random places.

oh right i heard removing the leaves helps a lot. how do you do that?


and on a side note i got a really good new graphics card a while ago but it only helped a little. is there any way to make that work a little better?

oh yeah i remember seeing that somewhere, but how do you add that to ALL your mods? i never play native anymore, but does it just work for that?

Texture quality! Seriously helped me a lot. Especially with the TPW mod.  Good luck.

Edit: Resolution, texture quality, no rag dolls, ... that's all I can think of. Playing without corpses would be a last resort for me.

ok cool. texture quality you control from options, and resolution you control from properties on your computer, right?

resolution can be set from m&b options menu to (though with my computer resolution doesn't really improve fps). The biggest problem apart from graphic details is AI when there are lots of troops on a battle field. So decreasing AI should help as it helped me. (but of course it's better to play on good AI) Unfortunately everything you'll get is some compromise.

well...you can increase your RAM by using a useless USB or flashdrive..same thing...

just go to  control panel, system, advanced tab, performance settings, advanced tab, and then at the bottom click change and select
your USB as a virtual memory. you can then click apply and restart your computer. Open MB and poof you have like +10 FPS

really? SWEET. definatley gunna do that. but will your computer explode or something if you remove the flash drive after that

Download Game booster here http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html, this shuts down programs that you don't need while playing, in my pc it gives me around 70mb of my RAM that the game can use, also, if you have directX 9 change it to 7, it increases a lot the performance.

Lower the resolution, it should give you a few dozen percent in performance. You can also download turn down the texture graphics but use the graphical enhancement textures so it'll still look within your acceptable limits when you turn it down.
