Best Strategy to conquer a Redwood Castle or Town

Hey guys, what do u think is the Best Strategy for conquering a Redwood Castle or Town on highest difficulty settings?

Only use shielded troops and archers, move the shield wall in front of the archers and be ready for casualties! And use high tier troops 1-3 get slaughtered fast. When you're out of arrows retreat and go again.
Retreating won't get you any reputation so don't abuse it too much.
