Best-dressed fantasy Warrior

Túrin Turambar; Turumarth, Gorthol, Adanedhel and Mormegil

My favourite character of Tolkien's mythos. Alan Lee did him great service in the published artwork for the Narn i Chîn Húrin. Specifically, the aesthetic choices (on a personal level) sink him firmly into the wilds of Beleriand. Upon his head sits the Dragon-helm of Dor-lómin and to his side the black sword Anglachel, reforged as Gurthang. It's a classic fantasy warrior and fits perfectly into the low-magic of Arda, a very under stated design that I wish had made more of a presence in the P.J films.

And here's an older post from earlier in the year.

Whilst Snow troopers and Rebel troopers are pretty nice, the Scout trooper is indefinitelyimmeasurably superior.

Alas! Good guess but I'm afraid it is king Conan! I think it depicts a scene from "Beyond the Black River" but I'm unsure whether he had become king by then.

L. Spraque DeCamp caused confusion by forcing the stories into a chronological order of Conan's life, which was never R.E.H.'s intent. By doing this DeCamp could "fill in the blanks" by writing his own goofy stories and then if you wanted to read the original stuff you would be forced to buy DeCamp's too.

The worst thing DeCamp did was rewrite original Conan stories in order to make them fit into his imagined timeline and he also reworked non-Conan stories to turn them into Conan stories. Robert E. Howard would occasionally do that with his own writings but it's not OK for someone else to do it unless you get permission from the original writer. There was no legitimate reason for DeCamp to write his own version of The Black Stranger and withhold publishing the original, that story was originally a Black Vulmea pirate story which Howard converted into a Conan story so it had already been cannibalized enough, for Pete's sake.

L. Sprague DeCamp obviously thought Howard's writing was inferior to his own but even though Howard was a pulp fiction hack he was still much more talented than DeCamp. In my opinion.

The Mobile Infantry from the 1988 Starship Troopers OVA, the ones that actually look like what Heinlein vaguely described in the novel. Basically man-sized mecha with jetpacks and tactical nuclear weapons, fighting an army of laser-wielding spiders and/or jellyfish. In the book they maneuver by "bouncing" miles at a time in giant leaps like the original Superman, and use a migraine-inducingly complicated HUD to survey a hundred things at once. They were Heinlein's prediction for modern warfare: a hybrid of infantry, armour and air that would be extremely maneuverable, precise, and fully mechanized (and every man would probably cost the state billions or trillions of dollars).

In the Verhoeven film they... run around in roller-derby gear and get impaled in the chest en masse.

I think Runescape did improve their game with the new armor and graphics. It's kind of hard to find good concept art from them because hey, it's still just Runescape.

I finished reading the novel not long ago and absolutely loved it. It's a shame what Verhoeven did with the movies. If I recall correctly, he said somewhere that he got bored of the book partway through.

On the topic of anime and power armor. Landmates are pretty cool.

For those who haven't watched an Appleseed movie, the pilot sits in the torso and his arms stick out the front, controlling the larger arms with motion control. Looks a bit silly but it's an interesting concept.

My Best-dressed fantasy warrior is a runescape character wearing Bandos Armor ( the armor gotten from general graardor ) but the old style bandos armor the new style looks like ****..

 worked hard for about a month of nolifing to get bandos armor back when it was expensive then lost it due to a scam  still my favourite armor..

@ Gambino, While I liked the reworked version of the armour the ingame still looks pretty ****ty. But the concept art is cool.

I like this. It reminds me of a picture of an armored dude on the back of a Donald Duck magazine I saw once, with an insanely cool armor. Have forgotten it now.

One of the McDuck armours? Or the completely black one that destroyed everything it touched?

I don't know you, but since I was a kid I've always loved the exaggerated armors from the Excalibur movie (1981).
