Best CPU for large single player battles?

I'm thinking of getting new CPU & mobo.  Currently I can pull 150 single player battles with usually no lag. If I turn it up more, my CPU tops out.  My video card not issue (560gti).

Currently I have AMD Athlon x2. I'm thinking of getting either i7 or phenom 6, with a good set of RAM.  Any advice? What system would I need to do 500 player battle?

He probably means the graphics, I personally think they look great if you use HDR and have everything set to high. Couple that with a nice texture pack or Improved Landscape and you have a very pretty game.

A Q6600 would be just as good as I don't think the game would even be that much faster with a 2500k. Would be of more benefit to get a better gpu I would imagine then cpu.
