Best Character Builds?

Sergeant at Arms
Hey, I am trying out a number of different builds for my characters. Some I like and some are just a waste of time. Personally I don't find being a horseman particularly fun, I'm more of a infantry man.

I would just like to know what kind of character builds you like?

Heavy armoured horse archer is the best build. Liking it is a matter of taste. Which I don't have.

Firstly I've made fine horse archer (archery is the best thing while besieging castles), than I've started to make some kind of Renaissance man, someone who is good at everything, so packed up surgery, engineering and so, while being disabled in fighting.

Horse archer was fun, even started teaching him to use crossbows and throwing weapons
The second one was harder to experience, but efficient when the battle is long and all NPC are out

Yeah, Horse Archers are really fun, but they're difficult to build because so many things you have to put on. You have to put on Power Draw, and Horse Archery for the bow, and then Power Strike and the other one above it that increases your health I forgot the name of it. Also in there you have to work in your leadership skill, and Prison management, training, and tactics. I've been working on it for a long time. Well for a year and a half now to be precise. I think i got one of the best Horse Archers out there.

Heavy cavalry tactician. Basically 30 int, 12-18 agi, rest into strength.
Churns out higher tier units like no tomorrow with 10 training.
Said units survive longer due to surgery and wound treatment.
All heroes have more HP each battle round due to First Aid.
High strength gives you more HP and unlocks power draw/strike/throw and iron flesh.
12+Agi means you can ride all but stubborn and champion horses, have decent accuracy as a horse-archer and run a bit faster if you are dismounted.
As a cavalryman, you will enjoy a distinct mobility advantage over infantrymen.

I've consistently been a footman for the past year or two.  Whenever I get a slight urge to be a cavalryman, I can just play one of the quick battles, and I'm quickly bored of horse combat again.  Plus, when you're leading a Rhodok force, it's actually better to be on foot, where you can directly aid your men and judge the situation better--as opposed to riding off trying to kill caravan guards while your men get butchered.

My build is usually a Balanced Military Scythe, a shield (either board or heater), some type of crossbow, and bolts.  100% Rhodok.  I put my ability points rather equally into Strength, Agility, and Charisma, and I usually invest in Prisoner Management, Leadership, Training, and Trade for my noncombat skills.

Well personally i am like you i guess, hate horse in combat and stays back with a bow, if you get good at long range archery your unstoppable with a 2h axe or mace for a powerful backup

Any other infantry people like me? Or does this forum consist of mainly horse players?

(cowards)

I play as a horse archer, knight, endurance archer, thrower, wasp, medium cavarlyman, lots of things but the one I shall always return to is the heavy infantryman. Nothing beats standing in a thick shield wall, in the same equipment as your Rhodok or Nord lads, and waiting for the first cavarly to hit the line, then running forward with the sound of arrows/bolts hitting shields. Good fun.

Yeah, I love it, way more fun than being a horseman. What items do you use as your infantryman character?

This is a pretty good build - I might try this with my next character.

It would probably be best to have a horse to quickly move around the battle field. But to fight, hop off ur horse for a bit. On foot is the best and easiest. A good balance of power draw and powerstrike is prolly best. i dont recomend much higher than a 5 or 6 on power draw tho until u get powerstrike to 10.

Peasant.

Strip naked and take some stones and a rusty butchering knife to your foes.

Not optimized builds like some others, but challenging.

To do it - never add points to your main attributes.

I will definatly be trying this build. It looks pretty beast. What about charisma though? What does your leadership skill end up being at?

2-3 since I never had much use for charisma. (Money is easy to come by, your renown is going to skyrocket anyway and prisoners are worth jack at the slavers).

there is no such thing as a best character "build",your characters strength depends mainly on the skill of the person playing,a heavily armored Knight killing machine can still be taken out by a level one character with a hunters bow and a well aimed shot.

Not really.

You want a good build?

Go for Agility 30, Intelligence 15 and the rest in Strength.

10 points in Acrobatics, as much points in power throw and weapon master as feasible. Put a load of points into training throwing weapons and one handed weapons, take something like a Balanced Scram Knife (Not available in native, use a Short Sword) and two large bags of throwing knives or daggers (By preference - volume/damage) and one large bag of javelins.

Use medium armour. Lordly Mail-and-Plate is a good choice.

Enjoy.
