Sergeant at Arms
I just saw this announcement that they were making another movie based on the classic work of literature. I was pretty alright with it until I saw the cast list.

Angelina Jolie is playing a troll woman. Some skinny little creep is playing Grendel, the mighty ogre who terrorizes the kingdom. They do, however, make up for it by casting Anthony Hopkins. Yay.

It's that Zemeckis version, nay? all CG just like that movie about the train...Polar Express?
The only thing is N.Gaiman writing the script. I haven't obviously seen it yet, but imho Beowulf and Grendel with G.Butler will be the better of the two.

They'd better not **** it up.

It's made in Hollywood and Angelina Jolie's in it. Expect them not to?

I'm secretly hoping they do, that way i'm justified in murdering them all and pillaging Angelina Jolie's cave of love. For compensation, naturally.

Woah, what?  Alright, **** whoever's in it, if the producers and directors don't touch a thing with the script, this could still be excellent.

If they start portraying Beowulf in full plate armor, I WILL start killing people.

Beowulf, by the way, was an excellent read, and Gaiman's involvement's in the script will make it that much better.

"Christoper Lambert stars in this post-apocalyptic future story based on the 8th century Saxon epic poem"...

Need I say more?

Damn, I just might see it now. **** Jolie, if Gaiman's on it then it should be good.
Excellent idea.

However, Beowulf pwns everything...except Snorri Sturlusson and Tolkien.

How come everyone has a different spelling for the dude anyway

Well, the Old Norse/Icelandic spelling is 'Sturluson' but for some reason I like the modern Swedish spelling of 'Sturlasson'.  Dunno why, it just looks better imo.

Cirdan 说:
isn't there the double s in the old spelling? like, possesive s + son?

Not always, patronym naming conventions can change depending on the name in front, but yeah it's usually two ss'.
