The situation: I've set up my infantry in a nice line, ordered my cavalry to follow me, then had my archers retreat a little behind the infantry to be safe. Now I go happily charging into the enemy lines, a swarm of cavalry right behind me, and just before we hit, I call the charge. Except I forgot I was still talking to the archers. Who are now running from behind their nice infantry screen. D'oh.
So, after cursing my stupidity (and running from the fight like a sissy so I can drop my shield to use the command interface and tell the archers to get back behind the infantry) I think of possible solutions, and came up with a couple of ideas:
1) add a 'cancel the last order' order. Maybe make it have a limited duration (If you haven't noticed your mistake in 30 seconds, tough), and make the troops go back to whatever they were doing. Possibly even add a short delay to the order taking effect to dictate the troops getting the message (Orders can take a few seconds to get through, especially if you're far enough away to need them relayed...).
2) Add a 'Stop!' order - make the troops literally stop where they are. Notice it early enough and a 'stop' coupled with a couple of 'fall backs' should undo the damage. Perhaps make it so that if a unit is already 'stopped' it becomes a 'keep your distance' to kill two birds with one stone.
Anyone in agreement? Disagreement? Have I somehow missed this command somewhere?
