Being led by someone else in Warband????

Is there any sort of mod or is it possible in base game, to be your own soldier fighting for someone other than yourself?
I think it would be cool to be your own soldier listening to your leaders orders.

Freelancer allows this to a point. Freelancer has also been incorporated into a number of other mods.
