Being a Nuisance to Lords

Has anyone ever tried making, for lack of a better term, a BAMF horse archer and then riding around with no one besides maybe a couple of companions and destroying a bunch of lords without joining any factions?

It's not possible unless you only fight the absolute smallest enemy lord parties after they've been weakened by other lords. The sheer volume of archer fire focused on you alone will kill you instantly. It doesn't even matter that the AI has terrible aim against moving targets when you have that many people shooting at you at once. Maybe if you could find infantry heavy armies it would work better. But it wouldn't work against most lords.

It would work fine as because of the broken AI system as long as you didn't mind taking your time you could wait just around the point where the archers start firing and are only able to shoot and get lucky shots while taking out the charging cav/infantry and waiting for the archers to run out of ammo, also it is possible as I have jacked the size of bandit parties to go against giant forest bandits. Also as I am quite a noob I would be doing it on no more that sixty battle sizer and probably less.

It would be very difficult to constantly stay on the edge of the archers range while also trying to dodge their cavalry and infantry. But yeah, reducing the battle size and difficulty settings would certainly help.

I'm going to try this I was just wondering if anyone else had but I am playing on rather low difficulty settings (1/2 damage to player, 60 or less battle sizer, and a rather low combat speed) but I think that even on low settings it should be a rather fun thing to try.

It could be done, but would either require you to play on lowest possible difficulty, or be extremely careful and maybe get a little lucky on terrain.

I have had battles where just me and a few companions (recently released from prison no less) had *almost* fended off lord armies of 100+ troops on full damage/battle size.

Most recently as I remember it it was myself, Lezalit, Matheld, and Firentis (could have been someone else but pretty sure it was Firentis) Having just escaped from Curaw we tried to make our way to Nord lands and were caught somewhere around the bridge between Ismirella and Sargoth. Rather than just give up I decided to fight, we picked a spot  just on our side of the river We had two trees and a rock (about mid high) that we clustered by, trees soaked up the arrows and forced the infantry/cav to come in one at a time. In the end we were of course slaughtered but we had killed over 70 of their men and forced another 20 to rout before Matheld fell (battle continuation she was the last one standing)

It is possible. You have to use some troops IMO. Companions will be no good, except of those trained to level 20+ and with superb equipment. Make them all Knight/Mameluke like, add some other HCav (or cheap Khergit units) to lower the ratio in battles (it would be a trouble trying to kick King's ass, when among 100 people on the battlefield 6 are Yours...) and You'll be able to do it. Of course You should leave Yourself one "friendly" faction, where You could sell the loot and rest. Khergits would do the trick, using only Lancers should be easy to maintain (they are quickly trained) and in "small" groups (less than 50) should be able to give You advantage of picking Your fights. You'd probably avoid sieges, so lack of infantry is not a problem. Picking the fights should be the key here. It's a pity that, in Native, You couldn't join in the battle between lords if You're not merc or vassal, this would give banditry nice advantage, but well, all the idea could be fun.
