Becoming the KING!

OK so i was playing warband today and i have my kingdom and my little vassals and stoof but then i was like ya know... i dont wana be at war with the nords anymore, so i go and talk to their king and said "I wish to offer a peace treaty" or sumthing like that, and he said that i am just a mere lord with no leader or some random thing saying im not even a king, how do i REALLY become a king. and yes i do have my own kingdom and im not under an existing kingdom.

You need a certain amount of right to rule for the existing factions to recognize you. Usually over 50. It also helps if you are at war with a faction they are at war with.

Basically the other kings have to accept you. As others mentioned, having RtR and having common enemies helps. You get chances to see if other kings will accept you when you ask for peace, and when you send friendly greetings.

Search is your friend. But the easiest way is to send companions out on right to rule missions. Ask them, "I suppose you know I aspire to be king?" They will volunteer to take off for three weeks to advance your cause around the country. When they return, you will gain 3 right to rule for each companion. Then send out another one. Don't overlap their trips.

To officially become king you need to leave your faction and have land.  I've become king twice, but I've never joined a faction.  If you have a castle it will be official, if you just have a town I don't know what will happen. 

Beware, when you attack a faction and you aren't part of a faction you will probably get attacked by A LOT of men.  There are many strategies for making this work, but it's a tough road.  Read up and if you get stuck post again.

Don't overlap their trips.

Why not? You have to wait 3 days before the next one is willing to go, but after the 3 days is there any reason not to keep sending them out before the others are back?

I and some others have reported that overlapping right to rule missions causes some companions to stay away for a very long time instead of returning when they are supposed to.

Dont ever come up to a king and ask for peace unless you dont care, because sending out people to ask always increases my chances with peace.
