Has anyone gone up against the Battle Elephants in normal play?
I wouldn't think so since they are pretty hard to upgrade. You would have to have some in your party, lose a battle and then go up against a party that had beaten the party that beat you.
I have yet to fight an elephant, however, I have modified the game using Morgh's so that the Manhunter upgrades have elephants sooner rather than later.
I just found the unit, deleted the horse they are riding, and inserted the elephant. They already have enough skill to ride it. I may want to upgrade the hand weapon since I don't think the current 70 length mace they use can reach anything but horse riders.
I haven't actually fought a battle against them yet. The closest I've come is castle battles where the enemy tries to take my castle. In the prisoners or rescued prisoners I have found manhunter upgrades (slave driver, slave hunter) who appear riding an elephant in the description. But since I am playing strictly infantry and archers I haven't used them and they've not appeared on the enemy side in any of my field battles.
That's partly what I wanted. I wanted them to appear but not so common that I get spammed with elephants. It's not fun when I spam the enemy and I think it will be even less fun if I get spammed. Nonetheless, I would like to go up against the creatures just to see what it's like. I think it will add a thrill to the game that is kind of missing.
