>>> WHAT

BATTLETECH is a single-player, turn-based, tactical 'Mech combat game for PC. (And Mac and Linux!) The game may also include PVP multiplayer if enough funding is reached - more on that below.

>>> WHERE

The BattleTech Universe is one of near-constant warfare and feudal political intrigue, where great noble houses vie for dominance of a vast region of space known as the Inner Sphere. It's a universe of flawed heroes, fallen empires and grey moral realities. Great families vie for supremacy, with alliances and betrayals constantly shifting the balance of power.

>>> WHEN

Our BATTLETECH game is set in the popular 3025 Succession Wars Era of the BattleTech Universe - often referred to as "Classic BattleTech".

As some of you already know developer Harebrained Schemes (Shadowrun Games) will be relaunching the Battletech franchise, with a kickstarter campaign, coming in the Fall of 2015. I'll be updating  this with relevant links when they become available.

Taken from the website- Harebrained Schemes is pleased to announce their return to Kickstarter this Fall to partner with Backers in co-funding the creation of BATTLETECH. Jordan Weisman, the creator of BattleTech and MechWarrior, is back with the first turn-based BattleTech game for PC in over two decades. Steeped in the feudal political intrigue of the BattleTech universe, the game will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG ‘Mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics.

Hopefully this turns out well.

Kickstarter starts the 29th of September. From what I read, it takes place before the clan invasion and is Inner Sphere only.

It's rolled out. Already at $120,999. It actually raised about 8 grand in the first 2 minutes.  Those guys didn't even bother reading anything but the pledge tab; let alone  watching the video.

I think I had seen some news around that the kickstarter was going to happen at some point in the future, so they were laying the groundwork for this for a few months.

Backed because battletech is just too awesomely themed. I never got the chance to do any tabletop and was too young to really understand WTF was happening in the old school turn based games when we had them in the 80's, though I sure enjoyed the hell out of mech commander.

I don't think you can really go wrong with this one just because battle tech is damn cool, though the 1 Mil before single player campaign is worrisome. I'd really want the top goal of the PVP arena too, but the campaign, build your squad style game sounds good.

That map looks wrong. The war against Capella (Liao) started around end of 3021 after the Davion-Steiner alliance, and was pretty much over by 3025, IIRC.

The 1mil mark does seem a bit steep for the campaign. Though they've made that pretty consistently with Shadowrun so it's not really worrisome.
Stage 3 is what really interests me but that does seem too unlikely.

You know nothing, Jon Snow.

They are already past half a million. They will reach $1 milllion easily and will, no doubt about it, reach Stage 3. The big question is whether they will reach Stage 4 or not.

Hanse began by staging military exercises close to the Capellan Confederation border on a yearly basis starting in 3026
Uh, 3022 was the sign of the alliance. War didn't start till 3026, and that was just skirmishes. 3021 was the start of Justin Allard, I think.

Now, in 3025, each faction is near its breaking point. An uneasy stalemate sets in as the Houses scrape to rebuild their holdings, reinforce their worlds, and restock their 'Mech armies.Rebuild, restock? They haven't started to spend them!  :meh:

The third succession war ends,in the loosest terms, in 3025, and then the Fourth starts officially in 3028 right?

The Third Succession War began in 2866. It is generally agreed that the war ended in 3025, but fighting continued sporadically until 3028 when the Fourth Succession War was officially started
Heh, considering the constant state of war, saying that one starts with the beginning of another is rather loose :lol:

When a big part of your game revolves around 20 meter plus mechs manhandling each other, like TW forumites at a soap and grope party, there's very little down time.

Tempted, so tempted.
Just wait. Chances are  it will be on sale for a bit less close to launch. Only reasons to give is if you like the pledge rewards, you want to show  support the company early for some reason, or you need to help bump them to higher goal you want towards the end.

Hm, I've contributed to Elite Dangerous and Chaos Reborn, 50 US each and I can't get into them.  I'll probably get this one with the music track on the last week, assuming I'm still in a good mood at the end of the month.

Love mechcommander.......  and Mechwarrior 4.....
