I'm glad they're going back to historical inspired stuff. And of course they are not going for the simulation, the original Battlefield 1942 was pretty arcadey too.

As for italians, well, the maps looks pretty rocky/mountainous, similar to WWI italian battlefields such as the Asiago plateau or the Carsic area. The rifles doesn't really look like cavalry Carcanos, but still the cav Carcano is the weapon they resemble the most.

Also, I've spotted a Trench Gun so...US confirmed? Maybe the main character in the single player will be an american serving as volounteer in Italy at a certain point of the plot, just as Hemingway?

Also, one of the arabic riders at 0:26 in the trailer wears a German stahlhelm - more resemblant to a WWII stahlhelm, to be honest. Another example down here.

I'm so disappointed is a steam-punk manure game. Well, at least this is the first time we will be playing an alternative WW1 game.

Since there is a Hellfighter (Harlem Hellfighters) pre-order pack and since the guy on the cover is black, it would be rather awkward not to include US in. Also, can you imagine a game with no US of A?

No. That guy is obviously white.
Where as this guy is obviously black.

Yah, I didn't know about any of that before I saw a series of documentaries about colonial troops in western front a few months ago.

I see now from the hellfighter stuff that he is an American. So it isn't even something different, like an African man fighting for Germany, just a slightly different American with his American-with-attitude expression on his face while shooting that we're supposed to be enthused by.

Why make it alternative reality? It seems like they want to grab the sort of people who love real world settings but they want a different crowd to buy it too, so make a hybrid that isn't quite brilliant for anyone but is indeed enticing enough to buy for them all.

Regarding the arab horsemen with swords; does anyone think there might be mounted melee combat in the game? Horse riding is a big surprise in itself, it will be interesting to see it in action.
