Logistically it would. The Canadian taskforce was sent there to aid the NATO presence. We suffered heavy casualties in the fighting, and we went to the Netherlands (one of Canada's close allies) to rendezvous with reinforcements brought by the RCN and RCAF and to pick up new supplies. Canada also wanted to distance itself from the fighting, slightly. It makes perfect sense.Dodes 说:

Actually, Canada has missed two or three days of fighting as I recall. We'll be back on the third of fourth. Also remember, all of my soldiers are in vehicles. They'd probably move between 50-100 Miles-per-hour so that's a 3-6 hour journey. That leaves lot's of room for RnR and whatnot.Dodes 说:Fulda to the Netherlands is about 300 miles. I'd be surprised if a military unit could get there within a day, have any R&R, and be back to fight the next day.

Nah. Frankfurt isn't on the coast, and most of Canada's supplies likely would've come from the RCN.Dodes 说:I just think it's a lot more sensible to imagine that the Canadian taskforce simply relocated to Frankfurt, which logistically and strategically would be more feasible than anywhere in the Netherlands.

What. How would the supplies be lost. They would just go to the American and British forces still there. It matters little though anyway because the Canadians went to the Netherlands and it was a journey that was easily achieved in a half a day of travelling.Dodes 说:If supplies is the issue, there's bound to be sufficient stockpiles with/before any given deployment and they don't necessarily need to go to the coast to get them, Canada itself would certainly give supplies to NATO, and only a fraction of it would be issue that only is used with Canadian equipment, but the vast amount of general supplies needed would be gained from a general NATO reserve. Also all supplies are held in storage and have supply lines, it's certainly more efficient to be in a port, but the supplies gained from not using supply lines into Germany would be lost if you transported you men back and forth from port to the Fulda Gap.
