Dodes

Based on the 2010 Men of War Campaign hosted by TDM: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,126649.0.html
Background: Strategists on both sides of the Iron Curtain understood the importance of the Fulda Gap and accordingly allocated forces to defend and attack it since the beginning of the Cold War. Roughly the route Napoleon chose to withdraw his armies after defeat at the Battle of Leipzig which then allowed him to gain victory over the Bavarian-Austrian army under Wrede in the Battle of Hanau not far from Frankfurt. In World War II, the U.S. Army used the Gap to advanced eastward in late March and early April in 1945. The Fulda Gap is an obvious route for an armored blitzkrieg against either West or East and is of great importance in theoretical warfare between the US and USSR if the Cold War became hot.
It is 1985 and tensions are high between NATO and the PACT. A small engagement has broken out between forces stationed there. Already advisers are comparing it to the Marco Polo bridge incident and it is still unclear what exactly has happened, but both sides believe this is a precursor to full-scale war. NATO forces prematurely advanced under their own discretion and crossed the Fulda river and they have yet to give up the ground taken. The United States is using the territory taken in the blitz as a bargaining chip to re-establish the status quo while Soviet analysts believe this to be the first of many future attacks on East Germany and that peace is not the objective of American forces, but rather to strike a blow against PACT forces. Eastern ground forces have been given orders by local commanders to take back ground in order to redeem the competence of border forces and to prevent the United States from pressuring communist leadership into a peace deal that would favor the West. It is unknown at this time if such orders were given covertly by the Kremlin, though of course Soviet political figures deny this and argue that the forces on the border are acting under the same provocative that NATO forces did when they initially advanced after the incident.
Mechanics: Each player will choose at least 1 "Deck" to play as, though the decision of which troops they can use will be restricted. While unit restrictions may change based on the scale of players, this will translate to no decks solely being made of helicopters and air assault or 100% armored tanks. How this will work is similar to the campaign found in-game, though there will be no dynamic events nor deployment points to use on more units or strikes/abilities. Essentially the host (starting with myself, though someone could feasibly take over) will dictate what happens, but mainly it will be decided based on players joining or leaving.
The game map will change based on battles and each province will decide which map is to played on. So onto the map itself. It's a little sloppy, so apologies in advance, but it is minimal effort and will hopefully be plenty sufficient.
To start off, first person to volunteer to play will be allowed to choose which side (NATO or PACT), I will then assume the role of the opposite. All of the first decks will be older tech and the first two should probably be US and USSR, though this is open to debate. Third will then be allowed to choose, but then fourth will have to assume the opposing, though this is up for debate as well. First "decks" or divisions will be primarily motorized infantry with light tanks and primitive Cold War air support. Helicopters are allowed, but only recon at first. Those who volunteer first will be allowed to choose more modern units sooner.
Battle of Fulda Gap History:
Day 1: US Motorized forces assault Petersberg after taking Fulda by surprise. USSR forces that regrouped within the province mount a counterattack and the first organized engagement occurs. USSR beats back assault and Petersberg is held. Moscow threatens use of WMDs, not specifying either chemical or nuclear warfare.
Day 2 Prediction: Rumors of British troop movements heading to reinforce border on the West's behalf and the East has responded with the mobilization of nearby East German mechanized. Analysts on both sides coming to conclusions that stand-down orders of both the Pentagon and the Kremlin are bluffs. A hysteria erupts in the US Midwest as a supposed communist sleeper cell is found and subsequently arrested indefinitely, though the ramifications of this only affect public opinion.
