This weapon is an awlpike I presume? It is a 13th Century invention if I remember correctly. Swadians had it in native M&B. It was indeed invented for piercing mail, and that alone proves that it prodably wouldn't be used by vikings - as mail was not yet as common as in 13th Century. One of many examples of historical fallacies in sagas

The text says it's a kesja, which was probably a bill or something similar. See Viking halberd on Wikipedia.

Bear in mind the details in the description of the weapon in Egils saga could well be simply fantasy to make it sound more badass.

Congratulations on Hrotha, Moeck and anyone eltes involved in the organisation!

I'm so glad to have this battle played out in Víkingr! it cannot be underestimated the importance this battle played in the politics of the British Isles. After winning this battle, the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms/England became a force to be reckoned with "North of the Border" - here meaning the modern Anglo-Scot border. Before hand the Kings of Alba, the Lords of the Isles and full reign and could flaunt any power they had without giving any notice to the Kings of the Anglo-Saxons - with the Scots, Picts and Britons beating the Saxons in battles before. However, after the Battle of Brunanburh, the King of Scotland had to recognize the Kings of England has the more dominant power on the mainland.

As like before I shall be bringing again some new folk to the Event and hopefully, as before, get them into Vikingr!
