Battle of Aescesdun never ends.

I bought the Mount and Blade bundle on Steam in January 2017. I love Viking Conquest Reforged. Played all the way through one time. I play on side of West Seaxe for final missions. I encountered a bug at the Boar Grove after I met Beda there. If you re-enter the grove, kill the Old Warrior, I can't leave the battle screen. Tab causes message "Something is moving in the undergrowth" but I can't leave or exit. Ended up restarting my computer and restart game, start back at previous save. So I continued and went on with quest, up to last battle of Aescesdun. I have fought in that ridiculous battle twice now and it goes on for ever until all my units are dead, all allied units are dead, and I alone remain. Vikings continue to get reinforcements and I fight them forever until finally I am killed for good. Game over. Seems like a bug to me.    I'm not too savy with changing stuff in game programming and I haven't changed mine at all. I don't understand too much of the language in these forum messages so please be patient, I'm not a computer whiz but I would love to know how to finally get through that last battle. EDIT: It won't let me post a link to my rgl_log on dropbox. Says I haven't been on the forum long enough.

So I finally figured out that they expect you to retreat from the first battle. There should have been a better way to make that clear, since it took me three times and several hours to figure that out. I finally won all the other battles. I made it through, despite any comments or help from anyone on here. Some of the dialogue and communications in the game are very vague and frustrating. Oh, well. I enjoy the game.
