I'd love to see more options for controlling and setting up battles. Options like choosing exactly who comes into battle with you, allowing you to bring only the troops you want in. This would let you bring your weaker recruits into easier battles while leaving them out of others, this would be especially nice for attacking hideouts where you're limited on the number of people you can bring in and you're up against tough enemies. Warband had troop priority where it'd take from the top of your troop list, but expanding that to it's own interface as a pre-battle planning button alongside the attack or order your troops to attack would be awesome.
I couldn't get the placing troops before battle to work from the tactics skill to work for me, I'm assuming it's not implemented yet, so I don't know what all that looks like; but I'd love if you could arrange formations and place individual troops before the battle. In the same vein as pre-battle arrangement, I'd love if we could define our own formations for troops to use, the preset ones we've got are okay, but more options would be lovely.
In the actual battle more options would be nice as well, like being able to tell troops to use certain weapons, or being able to break the division of troops by type without holding ctrl. Telling troops to advance or fallback in the formation they're currently in would be nice, that way you could e a bit more dynamic than just saying charge or having to mess with re-arranging everyone again.
More options would let you feel more like a commander and place more importance on commanding, instead of just spamming troops and saying charge.
Really loving some of the AI changes though, the enemies feel way more intelligent and actually use some strategy - archers don't just keep blindly walking towards you while shooting, they use their range to ruin you. Cavalry does charges then disengages instead of running in, getting stuck, then flailing a sword around on a horse while getting beat from nine different directions and dying instantly. And horse archers just run circles around you ruining all your hopes and dreams while laughing at your pathetic infantry trying to catch them thent turning you into a living pin cushion.
