Battanian Archers are Extremely Powerful

Maybe I just suck but I've found a Battanian army is nigh impossible to defeat on the battlefield playing as the Empire. Their infantry and cav I can beat but their skirmisher line with longbows are devastating. I commanded the cavalry and flanked their infantry and attacked their skirmishers. They just stood their ground and picked us off one by one. I feel like a cav charge into archers on open ground should instigate a partial rout of at least their weakest troops!

I just posted a similar post. About some custom games I did. The Battanians seems the strongest nation in the game. While the Sturgians are the weakest. I was just testing what troops to use against different nations and soon i saw how unbalanced nations are. Sturgians are known for their infantry... they got the weakest infantry of all factions... the defeats were insane... 80 deaths 20-30 kills. against all factions... even khuzait infantry was far stronger.. which i didnt expect.

in custom games 100 v 100 the Battanian hero seem as the strongest unit there is. Almost all sturgian units lose against their counterpart in 100 v 100.

I dont know why but the different faction currently are mega unbalanced...

I don't think it's true. Yes they are stronger than other non-imperial kingdoms but (at least in my campaigns) i think imperial kingdoms are much stronger. Because they have heavy armored archers, infantaries and most importantly CATAPHRACTS. I have 25 Elite cataphract and they are slaughtering anyone stands in front of them.

Yes the Battanian hero is a god on the battlefield.

The cataphracts generally dont use shields so we just get Last Samurai'd trying to get to them.

What's really needed is a short accuracy penalty when ranged users move their aim significantly. Right now archers don't really care about cavalry moving around their ranks cause they can turn around and snipe with pinpoint accuracy immediately.

I don't judge the strength of a nation by how your campaign turned out to be. I tested the different units in custom battles 100 v 100 and the battanians almost always win.. especially the hero's, while the Sturgians get butchered like dogs in shamefull defeats.. 100 v 100 they manage sometimes to just get 11-15 kills.. while battanians in 100 v 100 sometimes manage to get in total 9 deaths...

talk to me again when you played battanians vs sturgians. the sturgian infantry's shields absorbs arrow like a sponge. every faction is strong agains a few things but weak agains other things. the battanians ranged weakness is fighting against shielded melee units.

I just played 50 hours with Sturgians in 2 different runs.. Somehow the Battanians keep conquering all the Sturgian lands and winning 500 v 500 battles with just 70-120 losses. But hey those shields really stop the Battanians...

Why do you think i went over to custom battles to check a few things...Then i found out that Battinians archers aren't just good in ranged combat.. They seem to be carrying one of the best armors there is and having one of the strongest swords which plow throuw Sturgian infantry like they are made of paper... that was close combat phase..

my custom battles are giving different results though. maybe you set the cavalry and archers to high for sturgians? like i said try it with melee infantry, the ones with the big shields. sturgians are not that great with archers (go vlandia or battania for that) or cavalry (go vlandia, aserai, empire or khuzait for those).
as for 500 - 500 battles, it is not just the numbers that count but also the troop quality. the battanians took over all sturgian lands, which means their troops leveled up while the sturgian troops kept dying. their troops therefor where new recruits, lower quality...

Yeah, I like wildlings and battanian heros to fian champions, but i feel like battanian archers need nerf, their skirmishers and infantry are in good place, but elite archers are too strong both at distance and in close-range. I can understand jav units hitting cavalry hard they only got what 5-10 javs, but archers should do less damage than they are doing i think especially against armored horses and armored infantry.

Well, it's said battanian Hero, lol, I think that hero need to removed to balance thing out, often hero had superpower clearly.

Maybe you want to see Sturgian ranged or Sturgian Cav against Battanian archers

I couldn't watch the unfair slaughter anymore so I helped the Sturgian Cav by killing a few archers, after that I just took a fork and stabbed it in both my eyes... so i didnt have to witness something like this anymore

Its a custom battle of Sturgian infantry vs Battanian Ranged

100 vs 100 with 100% infantry against 100% ranged

Because someone said that Sturgian shields just act like sponges for Battanian arrows, however when they finally come in close combat... they get butchered like dogs. These spears also have swords... which they use in close combat

So why don't you try 100 Empire cavalry vs 100 Battanian ranged
