I see this message when a lord in my prison get ransomed. I don't seem to have a choice and in most cases would rather not ransom them. This is annoying and prolongs the war and makes it almost impossible to get much progress against a large faction. I've taken out 10000 troops and barely dented the total. The Lords escape or get ransomed and rebuild in minutes.
If I could refuse the ransom then they would have to escape and I can reduce that with a governor with the right perk. Is there a mod or some other fix for this?

I don't think it's a bug but a feature to help with snowballing. So it would need a mod or edit to change.

It is definitely a bug; lords I'm not even at war with are winding up getting bartered from my town.

I can't seem to find anyway to delete or move a thread a thread.
I still think it's a way to keep lords from staying in prison forever since AI lords don't seem to ransom them. If they are in a non enemy town then they might not get out when there is peace, I'm not sure but it seems possible.

I think you're right, it's been brought up before, a lot. Even if it may have been a oversight initially, it's probably going to stay in as to not cause snowballing problems, since TW seems to selectively not understand that we are only concerned with snowballing that happens AGAINST OUR INTERESTS and/or without our involvement. If anything the bug is that it tells you you've bartered, that should be changed as you don't get a choice in it. I sympathize with the idea that it shouldn't be so, what is the point of all those perks about it if you can't keep them in jail?

This has been in since day 1, you own the town = you get the ransom payment. I assume it happens to AI owners too as the AI just puts lord prisoners in whatever prison they get to first, which is almost always a town.
