Barding for your horse

First off: BEST SHAREWARE GAME EVER!

Now that we've got that out of the way, it would be really cool if you could equip your horse with barding and make him die just a little less often.
Besides, Black Knights with black barding... no players left alive anywhere! uwahahahahaaah!

All horses have an armor rating to absorb damage; later in the game you can afford to buy warhorses and chargers, which have good armor bonuses and actually have chain and plate barding on their models.

Better horses also have better "charge" ratings, which allows them to run over lowly footmen easier and do more damage. It's a lot of fun!

Sounds nice! However, this doesn't allow the differentiation between really fast, charger-type horses for hunters, archers and the like, medium-armored horses for fast lancers and heavily-armored horses for melee-fighters from horseback. Also, this allows you to change fighting styles slightly more easily, while keeping your horse if you don't change too much. Allows for some nice role-play bonding to your horse

Historically the horse weren't the same depending on their intended use and the amount of armor they were supposed to get.

Put a plate barding an a fast coursier type, and he'll be in deep trouble. And even armorless the heavy battlehorses were more akin to plough horse than racing horse.
