Bannerlord's camera system needs major improvements

The dilemma of the staircase on that one sandy map on Skirmish:

first-person, and completely lose vision of the enemy when you block?
or third-person, and get motion sickness and completely lose vision of the enemy when you move backwards?

Glad to know TW is allowing players to make the critical decisions that truly define what made this game skill-based in the first place.

Can confirm this is still the case, and most of the time in the heat of battle, it goes against my favour.

Agree this has been a serious annoyance in the middle of battles, especially with that one tree on duel (you know The one)

The slow return from free look instead of snapping, and sometimes the camera turning in the opposite direction of character's rotation is also disorienting . . .

+1 Preferred the camera from Warband.
I think this is one of those things that you don't really notice at first until someone points it out, and then you go: damn that's why everything feels wrong...

The amount of times I can't ****ing see what is going on because my camera spergs out randomly at a leaf in a tree or something, is equal to the amount of times I die because of it. Very frustrating and I can't recall how the Warband one worked but it must have been perfect cause I don't recall it being a problem either.

Bumping this too, feels like I have to play GTA 2 most of the time on Xauna to have a chance to see my own fights

I literally never paid any attention to the camera in warband unless I was streaming. The things we take for granted eh

Bumping this back up to the top, I still literally just might as well die everytime I back up to a wall. I actively have to avoid areas that I know will **** with my camera.

I just got off the phone with the lead camera designer. He told me that the camera team has been looking into solutions, but no promises can be made.
I'm not supposed to be telling you this, but one solution they're exploring right now is to inflict 5 base damage to the player, and then chuck that value into the physics-based™ engine to return the actual damage value.
The idea behind this is to encourage good positionning by punishing backing up into walls.

One previous solution which was almost implemented, but ultimately discared by the team was to remove walls from the game entirely, but Armagan had to step in because he felt that siege battles might become a bit stale after a while.
