Bannerlord enjoyment curve for me

lol

Took me longer than I care to admit before I realized you're ironically ****posting. 9/10.

This guy had good intentions at the beginning when he posted his graph with good humor. We need this. Let it be. It's refreshing.
He loves this game, the menav and he likes playing MP like many of us does. This game is good and we really enjoy it. Don't derail this thread with your poor hate intentions - I'm sure you can find another hating one that already exists that you can jump on it and flow your frustrations through it.

Waited 8 years for a sequel, better later than never I guess

Do you mean by that, that your list already starts very low?

Why does it feel I am walking around underwater

Because the animations changed and you are used to the very responsive warband animations that aren't really possible with decent graphics and realism.

Why is my Camera so bad

Good question, mine isn't.

These players are so bad, I have a 10-1 KDA Why does the flow of combat feel so strange though?

TW is working on ranked matchmaking, that should solve it. Play more games and you will eventually encounter better players. There are many very good players frequently playing.

Why do the siege servers keep crashing?

TW is working on that currently. There are many players on siege servers, that makes them more unstable than other servers.

Why is there a 45 minutes queue for skirmish games?

There isn't. Even at 4am I find Skirmish games in max 5 minutes.

Why do captain mode servers keep crashing?

They were crashing because players used some map glitches. The maps have been reworked and the servers are pretty stable now.

Why is my game randomly lagging on all four game modes?

Do you have under 16gb ram?

Finally, we have a "duel" server.. Wait a minute, dueling just exacerbates and highlights this weird combat

Yea, that is actually really annoying, but TW said they're gonna do changes in the combat animations.

Why isn't anyone playing skirmish mode on peak hours on a weekend?

There are people playing skirmish mode at these times, it just sometimes takes some minutes to get a free place on a server.

Why dont we have custom servers?

Because there is a lot to do before thats even possible.

Why arent the developers listening to any of suggestions made by veteran players of theit previous titles?

They do. Not as much as we would like to, but saying they don't do that at all is false.

Theres something that keeps bothering me though. Im pretty sure it doesnt have much to do with the mechanics of the game, but more likely with the haters that seem to persist in their belief that this game was supposed to be warband 2 (same game with improved graphics). Its time to wake up boys.. Its not, so i think some of you have some expectations to adjust. It might even help you enjoy the game once in a while.
You don't even need to compare it to Warband. The combat is wonky and sluggish by any standard.

You say the combat provides "new and interesting" mechanics, yet really they just seem like features to try and reduce the skill gap and remove "noobstomping" moves, like double hitting and feint spamming, at the expense of what made the combat smooth and satisfying in the first place. Now everyone has to suffer from the awkward combat, and noobstomping still exists anyway.

I'm looking forward to the big patch for MP coming soon, though.

Do you have under 16gb ram?
32 gb ddr4 3200 mhz ram with proper XMP settings .. i7-9990K 8 cores overclocked to 5ghz .. 2x2070 GTX Super.. 1 TB m.2 SSD

There isn't. Even at 4am I find Skirmish games in max 5 minutes.
This was a couple months ago when there were hundreds of concurrent players and only 10 skirmish servers for NA... Meaning 45 minute - 1 hour+ wait... Now that the game is dead there is not an issue..

Why isn't anyone playing skirmish mode on peak hours on a weekend?
This highlights in contrast to the above point and demonstrates how the game died extremely quickly.

Gameplay>Graphics See: Minecraft

I have played in every competitive BL tournament so far (except for dirty EU ones)

TW is working on that currently. There are many players on siege servers, that makes them more unstable than other servers.
They crash even without being full.. This means there is a fundamental problem with their netcode.. probably to due with script overflowing memory... For a team as large and well-funded as Taleworlds (Triple-A sized!) this is carelessness

Good question, mine isn't.
It's because even the camera is unresponsive in this game... The pan back nonsense with the tilde key and other features like shake are detrimental and annoying to any type of high level gameplay.

Lag is the net code. Camera is responsive, if not really janky; the clipping is stupid af (thanks for blinding me trees). I have the tilde key rebound to a mouse button and that helps. Wasn’t the tilde zoom out also in warband? Camera feels identical compared to what I remember

I agree its a fun game. I play at least a few times a week.

I abandoned the game not because it’s not warband 2.0 but because it’s a monstrosity that frustrates me to no end. I’ll play again once it’s good but for now I’ll stick to wbmm Nw and cod zombiez

Okay, a serious post now.
This thread wasn't meant to glorify Bannerlord or to state that the game is flawless. Obviously, it needs a lot of work. A LOT.

The purpose of the thread was to state two observations:
1) Long menavlion is a hilarious weapon.
2) I found myself having more fun in this game after a while, to my surprise.

Now, if you are the kinda person who thinks that any opinion has to have an agenda behind it, or if me having fun bothers you too much - go get a life.

Cheers.

Fight on Xauna near stonehenge, towards the wall. Good luck seing anything actually happening. Or the stairway in...the desert map i forgot the name, trade outpost?
Or go on TDM, spectate and try going into a house in free spec. The game literally will not let you go through pathways if theres a roof above it. Double tapping W to speed up the camera is removed, I wish they just made it better, the camera is really sharp so the screen looks like its going through a washing machine.

It seems natural to me to not be able to see that well in certain narrow areas, its no different in rl. these are simply bad places for combat and you allways try to avoid going there, which is a good thing, since these places can be used for ambushing and hiding. The only camera I have a problem with is the spec one, it just makes me feel dizzy. But making the spec cam free would lead to unfair advantages.

Here's how it worked in Warband:

Here's how it works in Bannerlord:

Sometimes you can turn the player into the direction that the camera was, so it won't turn as much, but there's still a loss of control during that instant when you release the tilde key (and often you won't want to turn your character). If you're a casual or severely inexperienced player, you might not notice much difference, but it makes a huge difference for those who play the game competitively. It's especially important for looking out for cavalry or when you're pushing an archer, but it can be used effectively in almost any situation.

It was already brought up during beta and it was one of the first complaints brought up when EA released:

The game isn't a hardcore simulator, like these:

There's so much in the game that's not realistic. It's just an underdeveloped or poorly conceived camera system.

This thread sheds some light on its problems:

Don't worry about it. We're just passionate about the series.

I was also amused to see how OP the Menavlion was when I first started playing the game:

Pressing left shift does that for me.
Thanks for mentioning this. I never knew about it.

If I would go for ultimate realism, I wouldn't play in 3rd person anyways. My point is, that it adds a certain dynamic to the gameplay and doesen't disturb it in any way in my opinion. Narrow areas are bad for fighting and everyone in the game knows that, so the players try to avoid these places. If you take the risk of engaging in combat in such a disadvantageous place, you get rewarded with the opportunity of an ambush and a good hiding place.

It's not just in narrow areas but also when you back up against a wall or when the camera collides with objects.

The camera in spectator mode is also flawed (or unfinished), since it can't go past anything with a roof above it:

I don't know if Warband's beta had similar problems with the camera, but there were definitely other issues that eventually had to be solved, such as picking up items without proficiency limitation and the lack of cooldown for couched lances. It's as if TW are having to rediscover all of the strides in design that they made during Warband's development. These issues are less important in SP, and the series is primarily about the SP, so I guess it's understandable that they would leave it so late, but it's definitely important for MP.
