I've been out of the loop for a while, but with Bannerlord supposedly still coming out this year (confirm/deny?), I was wondering what the plan is for Competitive M&B.
Here's a few things I'd definitely like to see:
1) An admin team that only admins, and is not allowed to participate
2) Unified rulesets across all nations (I see some of that has improved since last I played competitively).
3) A return to crowdfunding and sponsors
4) A stronger twitch presence (I know the wk streamers were still working on this recently, and it seems the EU scene has had a decent bit of this)
5) A bit more willingness to not be a **** to newer players or players from different continents. We only have so many people who care about this.
Here's some things I probably want to see (a lot of this depends on the mechanics of the actual game):
1) Smaller game sizes - 5-6 people per team I think would be better for competitive. It would also help shake things up a bit. I know there's been a lot of chatter when it comes to restricting team sizes because of the way we have set up clans in this game, and it honestly might not be possible. It depends a lot of player activity and the potential new bannerlord players.
2) A competitive gamemode that isn't Battle or its Bannerlord equivalent - Mount and Blade has castles and epic medieval siege scenes, and we should use them. Not sure if it would work with the low numbers though.
3) Something that's welcoming and encouraging to new players - I don't really know what this is, but we're not gonna get many other opportunities to focus on growth. It would be nice to have a plan that encourages growth. Granted, I don't expect a large influx of new players, I don't know what the marketing has been like for this game, but considering Lust at E3 and other cons, the general growth of gaming culture, and the Warband communities relatively small size, I think it's reasonable to assume that the amount of players new to the franchise will be significant. Maybe we have a video series on how to get involved in competitive play. Maybe we have regular announcements in the major servers. Maybe we get taleworlds to put some more obvious links in the launcher. Maybe we all hit up big esports names on twitter together and get someone interested and willing to stream this game. (Honestly I think we should do that just for exposure. Lobosjr on twitch streamed a single player warband game to 500-1k viewers recently, and I'm sure a couple people in that chat picked up the game.)
What other things do you think are important? What's already planned? I saw the combat suggestions thread but I feel like this is a different enough subject to warrant its own topic.
