Banner Painter - A suggestion on Banners

(Please note I searched this and only came up with a brief mention of it and no discussion, however if this has allready been discussed then please disregard this post and delete it or whatever.)

I've found that when I gain my right to carry a banner and I get to choose from the many available there aren't that many that appeal to my tastes.
And the ones that do already belong to some other lord.
(I feel stupid taking The king of Swadia's banner.)

I know of the way to put personal banners into the code but I don't know how to do that and don't have the time to learn.

That is why I believe that a Banner Painter should be put in place.
Similar to the Dawn of War army painter, the player decides on Field division and field colour(s), Animal(s)/Object(s), position (argent, rampart) and finally colour.

I believe this will add a bit more personality to the character and if the player wants to keep the banner, a save option should be included so that when a new character gains the banner right, a simple load function brings up saved personal banners.

But keep the default banners as those who can't be bothered to paint their own banner can just pick the one they like.

Thank you for your time,

- Theodore

I agree this is a great idea, i hate most of the generic banners the only reason i pick one is so i dont have to have the annoying green and black on my armour.

This is just another suggestion I thought it would be better than starting a new post;

Minstrels.

Minstrels could provide a moral boost for your soldier when times are tough,
So his services could include; A Song, A Story, An Epic Ballad! And each one give like + 20, +30, and +50 or something.

Thoughts?

The idea is fine but not worth the time to implement.

Do not have the time to learn? Takes 10 minutes to learn how to mod in a banner, takes more time to make a sandwich than it does to learn how to mod in a banner.

Oh, well if it takes less than 10 minutes to learn, please teach me.

Seriously I thought it would take like a day to learn or somthing.

Its this simple..

1: Find/make the banner you wish to use.
2: Open banner in Paint.NET or a program like it.
3: Open your Mount & Blade folder.
4: Then from the M&B Folder you open Textures.
5: Find the banner files, then find the one of the files where your currently used banner is. (Example of a banner filename  "banners_c")
6: Overwrite your current banner with the new banner you wish to use.
7: Save the file.
8: Open the game and load your save, the banner should work now.

PS: Suggested you back up your banner files before doing this.

PSS: Paint.NET can be downloaded here, http://www.getpaint.net/

Thanks Kraven, that's really usefull, but do you know where I can find the double banners? When I'm allowed to choose a banner there are 4 or so depicted twice, so I wanted to overwrite one of those, only, I can't find the double.

i dont think ya can use those "double" banners as it stands, but i could be wrong.
