Well this is my first post ans seeing the amount of suggestions already the chances of it being read is Zilch, But anyway I just thought I'd throw this Idea out there.

Banner men seam like a simple yet worthwile adition, A specialised elite teir unit with a banner, could raise overall leadership, party cap e.t.c or If for some reason your fealing particulary suicidal you could change the AI to "group" around Banner men in combat (as opposed to "let's split up, it'll take the Dark Knights longer to ride us all down that way!!). Not that I mean to critisise but this is a pretty damn realistic game, and one heavily armed foot knight gets taken by 5 villagers and day of the week. Except Teusday.

It would be great to see the banner flying. Pendragon would be very nice but I guess it is hard to program cloth flowing in the wind.

I like the idea of a lightly-armed banner man in principal.

The current orders could tell the banner man where to go. If no orders given, he stays with the inventory. If "follow me", he follows you. If "hold position", he rushes to the position.

You mean like this:

It looks like they are using the blunt ends of the axes on him. Why? Ransom? So they can have a great party? They just like dented armor?

They were essentially ancient-day shooting squads. They all closed their eyes and rotated their axes in random directions, and then they would never who dealt the actual death blow.
