Sorry I appreciate this is a lame question:

I was recently given a quest by Fatty Harlaus to rid the veluca region of bandits. So off i went scouting the whole region - with some time I resorted to looking across the whole breadth of the rhodock territory - no luck! The bandit camp I was supposed to destroy was nowhere! Desperate not to damage relations too much I went to King Bulbous and got more info. He said mountain bandits cling to inaccessible areas and mountaintops - this was no help but got me thinking - I don't think I have every seen a mountain bandit hideout.

Can anyone point me in the right direction even if this is a stupid question - they seem to be invisible.

I think it's near Etrosq or Culmarr castle, in the valley that is there, or nearby.

Exact same issue but in the Sultanate.

Correct, it has a standard area to spawn in. Which is around there, for mountainbandits.

If you cannot find it, and really want to finish it.
Cheatmode on, use teleport to travel, and press space once, after each teleport jump. This makes a fraction of time go by, and reveal area units/camps.

If you don't mind giving up your troops, you could find a party of mountain bandits and surrender. Sometimes they wander back to the hideout with you in tow, and once you escape you can go back and take it out.

I've found a mountain bandit lair a lot of times somewhere in the middle between Veluca and Yallen.
And 1-2 times on the other side of the mountains, near Swadian lands.

There's a valley only just into Rhodock territory, that's where I usually find them. It's nasty, gets crammed full to the brim with the little beggars. I do believe Potatoes was right about the names, dunno for sure, but it's not in the middle of the territory, it's close to the Swadia/Rhodock border.

You will most likely find a camp somewhere at the red lines. I'm not sure about the purple lines, I think I saw camps there too but since I'm not very often in Rhodok territory I can't quite remember.

So start with the red lines and if you don't find it continue with the purple ones.

Would you happen to have a similar map for the Desert Bandit Lair? It's tough being a Nordsman hunting for bandits in the desert =(

Should be close to the mountains, but still a bit out in the desert, near ahmerrad or durquba

Hooray at calling him Fatty Harlaus!(I call him King Harlaus the Fat)

Oh, I also made a trip to Rivacheg to scout for Sea Raiders, but didn't see a single one and no lair either. I'm getting suspicious of the OSPW mod pack =(

They're usually on the northern coast or near a Nord or Vaegir river. What does OSPW stand for?

It's the Open Source Project mod which combines Diplomacy, Custom Commander and a few other mods. In theory a really good mod, but this bothers me. I know where the Sea Raiders hang out and where their lair is as I've spent much time as King of the area, but this time I went there on business and didn't see a single unit =(

There is a perfect time and tested way of dealing with this situation:stop. The more you look for it and the less you find it the more angry you'll get and you'll probably rage slam your laptop on your beige-gold chihuahua X pomeranian. After a while you'll be able to go there and you will be able to find it but in the mean time you need something to do so why don't you do some of the following relaxing things:
Eat something
Drink something
Find other bandit lairs(don't search too hard)
Poke King Harlaus the Fat with a stick
Watch a movie
Buy a dog
Declare a couple of wars
Do some trading
Rob a bank
Beat King Harlaus the Fat with a stick
Worship me as rightful king of the universe
Recruit some soldiers
Help out a village
Throw a feast
or my favourite:Kill King Harlaus the Fat with the Stick of Doom(a stick with a name)

Not really, desert bandits are the only ones I haven't discovered a system in their camping behaviour yet (somewhere in the desert around Ahmerrad ... haha, how helpful). Mountain bandits - mountains, forest bandits - forests, ... that's easy to know where to search.
