Bandit-situation is getting out of hand. Needs looking into.

you see they have 3 hideouts?, if vlandia is at wars, chances all of its vassals are on the other side of the map, so bandits will keep festering, lootings and people will turn to be a looter just to make a quick buck. better start cleaning some of them and get rid of one or two of the hideouts.

What I don't understand is why bandits don't de-spawn after their hideouts are removed. They basically keep spawning if their hideouts are left unchecked, so theoretically removing them should diminish their numbers, but the problem is that in certain areas they are allowed to fester, spawning a lot, like the OP showed and even if you wipe out all of the hideouts, they are already spawned and will continue to be around until more bandits are spawned and have hideouts and it just gets so messy.

Wish the game allowed those tiny groups to merge into larger bands, so that they'd be slower and easier to catch.

Just use the new Vlandian Nukem feature.

Problem is that bandit groups attack only villagers. They don't attack caravans so they barely lose men and they are too fast for most lords. There's no natural enemy except player for bandits in Bannerlord now.

I'd like it if you could send out patrols from castles and towns to deal with this. Villages could send out militia if they are prosperous enough.

One more thing the algorithm to spawn hideouts seems to be broken or need balancing. I saw 5-6 hiedouts next to each other. I was also in situation where i destroyed hideout and it respawned next day in the same place so it's pointless to attack them.

Yeah the issue gets more pronounced in rather confined areas and/or areas that have a lot of difficult terrain to traverse. It does have dire consequences, as certain villages basically are cut-off from everything. So lords can not replenish, they can not sell their goods etc.. And of course nobody can go after them, but the player. The fact that hideouts right now are a big challenge to anyone makes them prone to just left alone, too.
So the things needed are:
- Peacetime
- Adjusted spawnrates and/or less hideouts
- A manhunter faction dedicated to wiping them out. They do not have to be very good, but at least to get rid of some parties or killing a few bandits in the bigger ones.

Yes, this is why Lords get captured so much. The terrain is too claustrophobic and narrow. There are way too many mountain ranges in this game. The path-finding of AI on the campaign map is the exact same since Warband too...

This leads to situations where the AI party tries to move in one direction and sees an enemy: "Oh no, better run away". They run away a little distance and then run right back into the enemy that caused them to run away, because that's the shortest path to their destination.. and they repeat this forever. They never try to go for a longer alternative route... they just retry and retry, over and over. This is made 10x worse due to the narrow paths you find in the northern parts of the map and gets them caught eventually.

Another solution would be to just slow down bandit and looter movement speed so that AI Lords can kill them easier. Steppe Bandits are a pain to catch.

I can confirm this. Had the same issue in the same area playing as Vlandia. One of the sea raider camps is bugged and does not have a entrance. Each camp has about 40-60 raiders in them. This also happens when playing Asarai. "Impossible" to catch steppe bandits so the packs just grow and grow and the hideouts get filled to the brim. Spent 2h trying to clear all hideouts in the Vlandia area but they would INSTANTLY respawn as there where so many bandits everywhere. Problem is the speed and quantity of bandits of the spawn.

This has some huge knock on effects to all your villages and town. Villages need to move their produce to towns so castles/towns can grow. Villages that have been raided are only able to send out peasant groups of ~15 to move their produce. That is easy pray for a group of +10 mountain/sea/steppe bandits which fill the screen so non of your castles can grow and sustain them selves. Towns can because of caravans bringing them the stuff they need.

Small bandit groups must come together and make a big bandit party under a bandit leader/hero. First of all their does will decrease, therefore it will be easier to hunt them. Second there will be less bandit groups on the map. Third it will be a challange for the player.

If there's nobody roaming the map to deal with the bandits, then this can happen. Have you been executing a lot of lords by any chance?

At some point the bandits should start fighting each other. There ain't room in these here parts for the both of us.

OP has 3 hideouts close to each other. Maybe they should fight too lol. Bandits wars. Who is the king of the forest?

or just add hideouts as a possible target for nobles parties. You (or any other clan leader) can send out quests for them. And the player could even order his companion commanders to do it. Or hire those mercenaries clans.

- patrol around my area
- clear out the bandits
- attack hideout in XXX
- defend this YYY

Companions should have the freedom to move around and do whatever them want, but from time to time they should also take orders. Just like you can order them into your army. You are the clan head and the one paying the wages

Perhaps when a kingdom allows a bandit situation to get too out of hand, the game could check for x amount of bandits in an area. If x > threshold, taxes are reduced (why pay a nobleman taxes if he can't keep you safe?) and a single large army lead by a generated bandit ''king'' is spawned that can raid villages, too. The army should be slightly below the size and quality of a generic lord's army, so that it can't be killed by random parties but a single lord should be able to effectively get rid of him. Doing so will.. not sure. Diminish chances of bandits spawning in that area for a good long time, like an ingame year?

EDIT: I also wondered why I can't tell a lord ''there's a hideout in this location'' when I find one, and then he'll send some troops to deal with it in exchange for a very small sum (200-300 denars or so) for telling him.

In war times you had so many people being killed in wars family's were left with nothing. so they took to looting and things. the longer the game gos on i would think more would be around. I dont mind more for me to kill.

Since there is no headhunters/patrols to hunt for them and lords being imprisioned all the time. Make bandits fight each other. Looters>forest bandit>sea raiders etc. or even different "clans" fight within their own bandit faction.

Lords don't give a **** about them cause they're too fast. Also in vlandia bandits are spawning like cockroaches above Galend on the coast and nobody is going there.

Apparently there is no limit too number of parties spawned by single hideout. Also bandits never attack caravans which is odd.

P.S.

Slight correction: Lords attack bandits and lose mostly cause they can catch them when they have too few troops.

That picture is a little extreme but bandits are all over the place in my savegame as well and I haven't even fought a lord yet.
