automatic firing wepons

now i know this has been debated and seen as an impossiblty and before i played the battle star galatica mod i would have agreed with that. but when i played it and clicked on the fire button my spaceship wepons fired a contunusly stream of bullets with out stop unless my finger left the mouse. so my question is firstly how the heck was it done and secondly isnt it about time people looked more into this?

Maybe, depends if anyone decides to make a mod (not including Battlestar Galactica) which requires automatic weapons.
You should really be asking the mod maker if you want to know how it was done.
