Auto-resolve is stupid sometimes.

200 units, mostly tier 4-6 vs 40 units, mostly tier 4-6.

Should be an easy win for the 200 right? Wrong. According to auto-resolve.

80 dead, 40 wounded.

Did battle manually.

2 dead, 3 wounded.

While I'd like to pretend I'm just that good, it really wasn't down to me doing anything. I speared maybe one guy and it wasn't the enemy commander. No orders given other than 'charge'.

It seems auto-resolve will punish you for skipping on battles with an enemy any bigger than 10-20. It shouldn't.

I think it's because autoresolve pits each unit against eachother 1v1.
It's why I don't autoresolve anything but looters (they only wound units) since even a 80vs10 against any bandits will have a fair % of your troops die.

If you don't feel like fighting them you can do the manual battle and just hit "F6." That's what I do to get around the auto-resolve dice rolling nonsense.

F6 is a bit more organized than just charging in and has more overall troop survival, without you having to micromanage. Micromanaging can burn you out after the 20th battle.

I bet my life that the auto resolve battle is Warband take-over. It was the same thing there: you fight 2 bandits with an army of 80 people and you get 1 knight and 1 sergeant dead. Sometimes I wonder if changing graphics and keeping the same game mechanics really takes 8 years of development.

Might end up doing that. However it won't get the other bonuses that auto-resolve gives. Namely the increased XP for units and speeding up gameplay by completing a fight that should be easy.
