Auto-block in singleplayer

I literally just said in this thread that there are people that can't. I know them. Because I have lots of disabled friends. Because I'm disabled. Don't speak for me or a community you don't belong to.

It does for some people whose hands are affected by muscular dystrophy. Your experience in life is not the same as everybody else's.

Don't want to forum war. Please leave me out of that.

I was simply voicing my support for having the feature re-added. I don't see why the feature was removed to start with.

If there were autoblock it probably would make shields useless since you basically become a jedi. Shields allow you to block in the wrong direction and still get maybe some protection. It seems like its a balance issue.

Naw, Just like in Warband Auto block didn't do anything against Archers.

It has been in all of the games leading up to this, and your assertion is simply untrue. A shield allowed you to more effectively block multiple enemies simultaneously attacking from the same direction regardless of whether they thrust, chop, slash, etc. Not to mention archers. If they add autoblock back in, this will still be the case since shields will still block any attack that makes contact with the shield regardless of directionality.

Besides which, for the LOVE OF GOD, if they add it back in you are NOT FORCED TO TURN IT ON.

What is wrong with people?

All I know is I blocked in the wrong direction with the shield in bannerlord and got the block anyways. I like the way it works. People are making it seem like the end of the franchise for not having autoblock. It’s not that big a deal. Let them work other stuff out first before you guys hammer the devs with this.

Directional blocking with shields in Bannerlord will reduce the damage your shield takes when blocking correctly, and also cover different portions of your body which is useful for blocking ranged weapons.

That's not what this thread is about? The issue is for non-shield combat. As in civilian clothes combat and during the use of 2 handed weapons.

If we don't find the game fun due to the lack of auto-block, then it's basically the end of the franchise for us until auto-block is added back in. In other words, we can't enjoy a very core part of the game with this feature missing, enough to where it potentially ruins the experience of the game as a whole. Even if everything around it is great, if you come out of every engagement wildly frustrated, you won't consider it "fun".

The shield argument is very disappointing. I don't want to use a shield. I want to use a 2H weapon. And the obvious responses are either
a) Then use a 2H and get better at blocking, or
b) Then don't play

(b) is the end of the line, but for (a), my response is "that's not the experience I bought the game for". And finally, the usual response to that is "that's what devs intended, so deal. This isn't your game, it's theirs". And you'd be right to say so. However, all the same we can ask that it be changed.

There was an earlier post saying something like "You have shields, so you've lost literally no fun. It's still there". No it isn't. The fun I wanted was 2H, and it's not there. So I did, very much, lose it.

I don't care if its implemented into the game or not, would i use it idk.. I'm kinda getting used to not using it, its more challenging for sure, but i honestly don't see a issue if some people want it and others don't.. if it gets into game people whatever if not whatever... no point in arguing about it here in the end its up to the devs not us.

This sounds like the same issue that call of duty had with his player base not too long ago. The developers went in a creative direction that pissed a lot of people off because they couldn’t run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Ultimately the player base got over it, they got used to buildings and checking corners. Honestly you should expect to learn new game aspects when a sequel comes out. If you want to be a combat wizard one man army then use cheats or something. One small aspect like learning to block is not the end of the world. Is it convenient to have autoblock? Yeah ofc. But it’s not required for the vast majority of people to play the game. I don’t think the majority of people are playing on easy and very easy anyways. people who play this game wants some kind of challenge so don’t be surprised if auto block isn’t high on the list of priorities for the devs.

as a disabled gamer i am rather sad that they dropped autoblock and lance, it was hard enough for me to play warband with my limited reaction ability and physical disabilities, i am now basically left with not being able to fight at all in the game without getting rather dead in every fight and having to rely solely on companions to fight for me... which is not what i want from any game

As someone who used auto block myself in Warband, I can appreciate its removal in Bannerlord. Two handed swords are quite powerful, having to improve my own skill to effectively wield them was very rewarding, and also acted as a sort of balance for them. If you are completely unable to improve your own abilities, just pick up a one handed weapon with a shield. It offers extra protection against ranged weapons anyway.

I don't understand why we are still discussing "how to block".
When you have 6 fingers working out of 10 due to arthritis, there is no "how to". I cannot "git gud", period.
There is a game with auto-directional blocking, or there is none.

We need clear developer answer - is it going to be implemented or not, and when.
I can play with bugs, crashes, glitches, whatever. But without directional autoblock feature, I cannot play the game.

Thanks again to kind souls who supported the plea for it, but if this is official TW stance, I am glad the game is refunded and glad to split away from this community.

Please make auto block a feature on super easy mode only. Otherwise its going to be ridiculously to easy. If your getting killed to fast then change your setting in the campaign mode to easy then you only take 1/3 of the damage from hits. I had my dad do that and he is 72 and it helped him with being able to play the game.

Hopefully it's a thing they're working on and is only absent due to technical difficulties. Those of us with physical or mental disabilities (such as sensory processing disorder) are losing an /accessibility/ option and if that's due to some puritanical idea of difficulty then I'll be - very - angry.

Except it's not, and we don't want to be a combat wizard, we just want to be able to play without pain. We're asking for a change to the single player portion of the game. Most of as are asking for a toggable option because of physical limitations. Missing fingers have been mentioned, my myopathy, and plain old age and it's symptoms. We understand how it's supposed to work shield or no shield (most of us anyways) we simply can't do it.

I wish their was some official channel through which we could maybe ask what their thoughts are re: the future of automatic block direction. They certainly don't appear to be reading this.

If they intend to put it in eventually, I would like to re-purchase the game. If they don't, I would like to uninstall for good.

The fact that it doesn't exist already makes me fear that they don't intend for it to exist ever, at which point no further ****s will be given.

Auto Blocking is for Casuals.. Git Gud or get the F* OUT!

Mount & Blade tryhards: Can we have a manual block option?
Mount & Blade casuals: No objections here

Bannerlord casuals: Can we have an auto block option for singleplayer, like the default option for every previous incarnation of M&B?
Bannerlord tryhards: Git gud or get lost

Since it's only the sociopaths and trolls arguing against it, I'm pretty hopeful that it'll be added.

Not without hope here either for pretty much the same reasons.

However, that feature existed at launch for every previous incarnation of M&B. As previously stated, it was the default option.

It's conspicuous absence makes me think that leaving it out was a conscious decision. It's entirely possible that this is simply the direction they have chosen to go in and that they have no intention of taking the temperature of the room on this decision -- that this is simply the way the game is now. I just want to know so that I can act accordingly by not supporting them financially.

Thanks. I cannot understand why people want to prevent something that will not affect them.
