Assistance Requested: Thorgrim's Map Editor Crashes when I Try to Smooth

I've been trying to get it working for over a week with no luck, so I've come crawling here hoping to possibly get this solved so I can go back to making my mod.

Anytime I try to use the Smooth(Ctrl+S) to smooth out the shorelines, the map editor begins smoothing. Little progress bar starts moving. Then anywhere between 10%-60% it just crashes.

I've tried updating my graphic card drivers.
I've tried older drivers
I've completely uninstalled/installed Mount & Blade 4 times
I've uninstalled/install Thorgrim's Map Editor 3 times
I've searched the crap out of the Forums
I've searched the crap out of Google

Doesn't seem anyone else has this issue as far as I can find posted information on it.
Though I'm sure SOMEONE will find a post lost in the 36 pages I looked through on Search that lists this problem and tell me to try searching harder next time.

If I left something out ask, hopefully there's someone that can assist me in getting this map editor to work properly.

I've had this problem too.  Do it the manly way, manually.  It looks waaaaaay better too.

Go into green dot selection, and move them around manually by mouse movement.  It takes a bit longer, of course, but the end product is a thousand times better looking.  I make my maps like that, and they're in two big mods.

Hmm. I'll give it more tries, I never seem to be able to make them non cornered... Somehow.
Stupid triangles....

Would still like the Smooth thing to work though, lol.

You cannot smooth your map too many times, or else it will crash. Each time you smooth the shores, the load time gets longer. It's recommended you only smooth the shores 2-3 times, tops.

And I can't smooth it even once... >.>

The problem could be that you were to eager the first time and pressed the magical combination ctrl-s to many times.
Have you tried to make a new map, and re-tried?

The reason I ask is because it happened to me when I was making the sod V5 map.
I then threw the bloody map out of the window and started on a new one.

And as Fei Dao said. For all that it's worth... Don't press the magic combination to many times.
I would say, finish the map and THEN press it. Once!

Yea I've tried making a new map, still get the same issue with the crashing though.

I know I haven't pressed Ctrl+S on purpose, I don't see how I could have on accident either. It's not really a button combination I use a lot.

I'll keep trying new maps, and hit Ctrl+S To see if I can smooth at least once.

I'm not very good at turning a Triangle into a rounded curve by hand. >.>

This is what I've done with my map too. It's the only way to make it look exactly how I wanted.

Someone needs to come to my house and teach me how to turn triangles into smooth rounded curves haha.
I'll order pizza!

I'll keep practicing the manual way, but I'm failing hard at it.
Hopefully someone will figure out why I can't Smooth with the Auto Smoother
I can even load a new map, paint a little land on, hit CTRL+S and it crashes. o.o

well, wings can be quite a good place to practice...
try making a box and the try and curve it as good as you can (using vertexes )

You don't have to answer that.

Hmm, I'll give it a try.
The problem I have with Thorgrim's Editor is the camera control is so loose. I can prolly fine tune it but meh.

Las Vegas.
I'll buy the pizza. There's a place near me that makes 32inch pizzas for $15.99.
I love that place.

If you go into face edit mode(the red box) and then double click an area it will select an area based on the texture of the face you clicked on. You can then smooth just that area. I crashed a lot less when I just smoothed one river or shoreline at a time. I'd recommend only smoothing one time though, and then going in and tweaking the final shape by hand.

I was unaware that I could do this. I will give it a try later tonight when I get back to editing.

I've been practicing the manual smoothing for awhile, as Dudro suggested, I think I've gotten much better at it.
Maybe I'll post the Calradia Map rework I've been doing to practice/learn the program more fully. I think it's actually quite nice compared to the original.

But then again, prolly not. I doubt anyone would care that someone had reworked the original map. I imagine everyone wants new fancy maps to play, not the same old one no matter how much more attractive it's layout may be.
