Assertion Failed, link to picture of error V 632

Ok, my game had been getting choppier and choppier over the past few weeks. Then the merchant in Veluca disappeared....I could go in there, but the room was empty. Then I saved, and quit, and the computer restarted. The game crashes every time I try to load my saved game. I can start a new one, but agh.....

Anyway, here is a link to a picture of the error....hope someone can help with this, I hate to lose this saved game, I have been playing on it a long time.

Also, I am using current version .0632.

Also, I bought the full version way back. So I am a paying customer....HELP!

I have been looking through the threads on some way to help. I have found nothing that I have any idea about using. I tried using the old game file, but it is messed up too.

Could someone explain how I can go in and either fix my save game, or how to edit a new one to get it to the current level of mine? I would rather keep the game I currently have.

Are these game files added on to at the end of the page? I am viewing it with notepad, can I just get rid of some of the junk at the end to try to get it to where I was before it messed up?

Please, any help would be appreciated. I have my guy really advanced (cant remember for sure how far, but like 5 riding and 5 for prisoner management and leadership).

I bought the full version, and really want to save the character I have. If I have to start all over with another I probably will quit playing it. It just is not worth it to start all over after all the time I put in on this one.

Sounds like a corrupted savegame alright.

Something worth trying, rename old game to the name of the save file and see if you can load that. I seem to remember armagan suggesting it as a workaround at some point.
Other than that you could always hope that the next release will invalidate savegames anyway, so you haven't lost anything
Autosave would be a nice addition to the game...

Hey, I really appreciate the reply Archonsod. I have tried what you suggested, no dice....I saved shortly before the final save and it was running screwy already.

I do think I will step back from the game for awhile....especially if there is a chance a new version will invalidate the old ones, or even moreso that I don't want to play for a long time and have this happen again and lose the character.

Is this also from a corrupted save game file? It cuts out when I get into battle with horses.

What should I do?

That error occurs when you order your troops to mount horses. It's well documented.

You know, it might be a good idea to have all these errors listed in one spot, either here on the forum or back on the main website. Like, have a list of pictures of errors and an explanation and how to fix, all in one area.

Of course, we might already have that here and I have just not found it.
