Looks cool that you'll be able to play this from the perspective of an hashasin (spelling?), or something that isn't entirely european. You know, kill crusaders and hopefully saracen's too, instead of being limited to playing the 'good guy' crusaders all the time.

Actualy, you are being the good guy, because the saracens were defending their land while the cruesaders were atttacking for ph47 1007...

From different previews, it seems that the guild kills persons from both sides to prevent the war.

Raz: graag gedaan. That information isn't very official though, but it seems credible. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking though.

I think they mean in the free-ranging sense. There's no single plotline. Plus, the fact that you can only visit 3 cities is reminiscent of San Andreas.

Nothing like GTA then

Kind of strange how even with a superior console they still can't manage more than 3 cities...
I'd rather have 3 good cities than 10 crappy ones, like in Oblivion.

And you aren't playing a good guy. You're neutral. There isn't even such a thing as a 'Saracen', they consist of alot of factions. The only thing you are is a hitman, working for both the crusaders and (I guess) the Ayyubids. You will kill both Europeans and Arabians, not for your ideologies of peace, but for money.

A new game by Ubisoft.

Hm...

Looks delicious...

Its set during the Third Crusade. Very intriguing but don't expect historical accuracy(use of plated gauntlets and arm protection).

Animations are awesome tho.

I thought this was the original thread.
I wouldn't bet on it.

It actually even has the same name.

Thats probably why people thought this was the original.

Edit: Its all merged and stuff.  I dont know why I feel the need to comment on it, though.

Dude, do some research.  The general idea, (I cannot say whether or not it is true) is that the word for assassin comes from hashashin, derived from hashish.  Further, the assassins were essentially religious killers, so would actually chant.

I believe the theory was that they would use the weed to enter a religious trance. This was supposed to give them visions of paradise awaiting in the afterlife, to make sure they completed their mission.

Quite how anyone stoned off their tits could be a feared and highly skilled killer is beyond me though....

...

Is everyone on this board SO insecure with their own (After reading this) supposed intellect that they jump on ANY (obvious) humorous statement, take it completely seriously, then try to prove it wrong?

Sitting around smoking hashish and chanting? Dude, he's an assassin,  not a student.

Thats what the actual first Hashasins did. Before the mission, they pumped up with drugs and religious fervor, and such were virtually invincible to subversion.

How stupid do you have to be to address a point which was not only obviously a joke, but had JUST been stated as a joke because someone took it seriously, and it's not like it was a few moments after the post, it was hours.

Wow

How stupid do you have to be not to see that people may misunderstand things from time to time, and that they are not NPC's,and get tired and unperceptive due to fatigue and heat?

Ah, yes, I'm stupid because I don't realize you made a mistake that made you look like a total idiot.

Not that you did it on purpose.

Ok.

My bad.

Heh, I finally got to download the e3 footage of gameplay for Assassin's Creed.

What struck me was the social interactions of the character with the crowds. Very nice!
Added to that was some nice climbing animations and logic. Supposedly, the character can climb onto any 2" protrusion.

The only dodgy bit in the video was the "Assassins view" in which he senses where his target is in a really busy market place. I mean like a real life crowded small market place with 40+ ppl walking about doing their stuff.

I like the horse riding, but there was no mounted combat shown, although some people were sent bowling when run over/charged. No trampling.

There is also a fight scene, but it's more like POP with set moves than M&B (with you guiding the sword path directly) although they did say it was very contextual and also the moves are very suited to the character. IOW, lots of fancy esoteric moves compared to a standard grunt's repertoire.

I'll probably try the demo first.
