Actually it is very easy to aim with a mortar.
You can actually fire, place ammunition, reload, and have enough time to see where your shot lands while you are already aiming for the next shot. This way it can be way more accurate than the cannon. The tricky thing is when firing at moving men. You have to anticipate the time between the shot and the landing.
Also a well trained mortar gunner can aim looking at the position of the mortar itself. I often don't even use the crosshair and can hit static targets within 3 shots.

Finally, as mortars are fixed, it is pretty easy to know the places the aim for after some pratice. An experience gunner can make a slaughter out of it when he has a set of precalculated aims.

Dont know about the howitzer but the mortars blast radius looks like it could do with some tweaking

Anyone think the introduction of Carcass shot (that for gameplay reasons could last for 10 seconds and knock a bit out of your HP bar?) would be a pretty cool thing?

Along with mobile horse artillery.

if you mean what I think you mean.... Wrong time era. That fell way out of favor by the Napoleanic Period...

It is easy to learn, but to be very effective not much different than M&M, at least I think.

Other cultures do not refer to age as the amount of years that have passed, but the year they are currently alive. So instead of saying "He is 7" they would say "He has 8 years". Because when you turn 7 you are in your 8th year being alive .

I'm no Arty man, but the artillery is most certainly easier to shooting in NW then MM, for better or worse.

Though I was fooling around with the rest of the 8th on Bordino once, shot a mortar straight up, I got stabbed in the back. I respawned into my own shrapnel. It was funny.

They're hilariously inaccurate (As is historically accurate), more likely to hit your own guys than the enemy xD

This made me laugh ! 

The artillery in NW is really easy to use. Maybe too easy, and too effective. That's my opinion.
But in the latest update, the accuracy has been slightly decreased, so hopefully it's more balanced now
