hi

i posted it in at an other suggestion thread but i seems that its a little bit to hidden...

is it possible, that arrows and bolts are also sticking to/in(?) the shield when blocked instead of only at the enemy itself when hit???
would look reall cool to ride around in battle with a few arrows/bolts in you shield!!!

(if it was allready suggested sorry, i wasnt finding it with the search funtion!)

what do you all think???(especially armagan)

greetings...

Wasn't suggested, and it's a good one :smile: I'm not sure how possible is it, tho. But a good one indeed. Perhaps, like in RL, a lot of arrows/bolts/(expecially)javelins in your shield will show down your blocking speed.

I'm not really sure it's necessary to have any gameplay effect, aside from the visual of having a shield turned into a virtual pincushion.

of course not...
but sticking arrows in enemy body dont heave reall gameplay effect too, but it look good and adds a good bit of atmospheric(?hope it right) level! and so will the arrows/bolts in the shields!!!!

and since arrows/bolts can stick in enemys it "should"(i dont know :wink: ) not be a major coding/implementing thing!

@balor
the idea with the slowed down block speed is good but meybe its a bit more tricky to do thean just heaving them stick in the shield! :wink:

Well, yes... at least as long as arrows stick out of "reasonable" types of shields... wooden shield yes, steel shield no :razz:

But even metal shields could get arrows (and especially crossbow bolts) sticking in them - they'd pierce the metal and get stuck. In fact, they could even go straight through, historically - a wood-and-leather shield would be better than pure metal to defend against missile weapons.

Well, it depends on how thick it is. An AP arrow (or bolt) will easily penetrate metal a few millimeters thick... and I doubt that the metal shield is made out of 1sm thick sheet of metal :p. Shields are heavy as it as, and this will make it simply impossible to wield.
Edit: Heh, Mechstra beat me to it. But anyway :smile:.

hi

from what i read, where the "most" shields in this age/style out of wood with a more or less thick sheet metal covered! some types got lether between the wood and metall to reduce arrow penetration a little bit...

hi

@armagan
is it possible to make a short statement about this suggestion? would it be too hard to implement, or is it easy to do? is the idea worth it?
i am really interested since i would love to see this feature ingame :wink:

greetings

On another note I think Javelins should do MASSIVE shield damage. In real life 1 Javelin would actualy render your shield useless (they have jagged points so they get stuck in shields, its what they were used for in roman times) But afterall this is a game so I just think javelins should do more shield damage then arrows and bolts.

And about the original post, I agree, need arrows and bolts to stick to shields (and javelins) :smile:

hi

i would also like it, if javelins get a big bonus against shields. in fact you got a max of 28 javelins if no other weapon is equiped, and against 20+ enemys is seems to be a smal amount!
the damage is "ok"(it could be a few points more) but there should be an other bonus, like bonus against shields!

greetings

@topic
armagan is allready trying, to implement this, so lets see if it get implemented :wink:

*nods* Bonus vs shields in definetely in order.
But it's damage (just buy javelins version 2.0 :smile:) is quite ok. Just invest in your skill of power throw.

hi

Just invest in your skill of power throw.
hehe, seems to be a good idea, if i want more damage :wink: ! i forgott that in the demo.
is horse archery also needed/usefull for shooting javelins from horses? i never figured that out!

greetings

I'd imagine so.

It would be nice to get some kind of documentation with the game that tells you exactly what affects what and how. If not in concrete numbers (to prevent minmaxing), at least in vague terms, so I don't pump something up that is actually useless to me.
