Picking up arrows during a battle will replace the player's battle start inventory arrows, which persists after the battle is over. The particular instance replaced "large bag of Khergit arrows" with "Khergit arrows" (the small quiver size). It did not occur when I picked up regular arrows during the battle, so it is perhaps tied to arrows of the same type./?
