Armor Values In SVN

I love it! I just had a Robber-Knight tank 4-5 of my infantry after i knocked him off his horse. He killed 3 of them before we put him down. All I could hear is the *tink* *tink* of us doing 0 damage to him...

I literally had to take out a spear and move backwards a good 10 feet and do a running thrust to do enough damage to wound him.

And the Helmets! oh god thank you for giving them 130+ armor! I'm sick of people in great helms getting one shot by archers, it just didn't happen that way. Also, running into a crowd and spamming your overhand strike, one shotting people with great helms... that was just dumb! it was the first thing I hated about this game. Now if you want to take someone out in good armor you need to put your weight behind the blow with a running thrust or have a good two handed weapon and really put some speed behind it.

Thanks you for making the armor values realistic, thanks to hollywood movies most people think a suit of mail offers little protection when in reality a knight in his mail was a walking tank.

I can't wait until i have enough money to get a coat of plates.

oh yeah, The armor on the warhorses are still around 44, you can just walk up to them and hit them 2-3 times with a one handed weapon and kill them.

the former 1257 for MB was also had good values with that "realistic combat" thingy, it made the game so much more fun.

One thing I liked about it was the fact that horses mstly died with just one arrow. I think that was accurate huh? It shoulsh at least incapacitate a horse, is it that way in SVN version?

I guess it depends on how armored the horse is. A warhorse covered in mail was mostly arrow proof, especially in 1257. I don't think arrows were good enough in that time period to be a real threat to mail.

It's false that mail was susceptible to arrows. Properly made mail (when the links are riveted together) is very good protection against everything, including arrows. Most injuries to mail wearers were blunt trauma do to an impact, not the mail being penetrated. If you take a two handed axe to a mail wearers arm you probably wont chop it off, but you will definitely break some bones.
