I keep seeing giant armies @ war passing each other on their way to siege.
like right next to each other.
it kind of feels like they are waving and whishing each other luck.

YEAH I see that . I just figure they are on a mission and Nothing will get into the way.

Yeah we need Army fights to be the priority rather than sieging. At least have weaker factions (the defenders) prioritize defeating armies over sieging.

I wonder how many factors go into this determination? Do things like Aggressiveness and personal hatred come into play here?

I am not a fan of losing my troops to go into my own castle. Only to have the army that is trying to Siege me . Leave..... what the heck.

I think most of what I've seen so far is pretty realistic...almost every single lord I chase while patroling our borders does not wish to fight unless they very much outnumber me...unlike Warband where a weak lord with half the numbers and significantly lower tier troops would still engage me. I like that...it feels like they are actually preserving and prioritizing their troops' lives and focusing on capturing strategic points and mostly just get into larger scale battles.

That said, I haven't really seen exactly what you describe...it's almost always a retaliation army that goes to defend a point and any other smaller parties will wait from a distance until reinforcement arrives...some even chasing an army 5 times their size waiting for an opportunity while the army presses towards their objective. But I'm sure it could use some adjusting as it's still early EA

I wonder what you do with all that time you save on typing "@" instead of "at".

Also sometimes two armies pass by and do not attack each other but they go their own hostile targets, this can be improved too. It can be better if they attack each other. Anyway these are out of topic. We can discuss further at another post.
Time to bump this thread and bring some more evidence to the discussion.

Think I got it, in the vid you'll see Gryphor's army fighting someone and Altenos's army passing nearby to besiege Tirby Castle which is clearly further than the fight Gryphor is in and losing. What also hurts to see is Altenos start to chase another party to fight them instead of going to help. Gryphor is clearly just a bit too far out of his natural path range for him to target the fight. But not to far for the small vlandian parties to join in on.

I've also seen this post on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/mountandbl...mies_just_passing_each_other_to_go_and_siege/

If anyone else can post some examples of this and potentially get some saves of it occurring as well, it would be much appreciated!

This has happened to me numerous times. The only solution I've ever found is baiting the enemy army to follow me and basically lead them into my factions army, giving them no choice but to fight. I will admit this can be tedious and may require some save scumming, but it's the only workaround for now.

Honestly, at this point I have no faith that TW will do anything about this since it means improving AI logic.
It has been made clear that TW wants to dumb down AI in order to reach 30 fps on consoles.

We can only hope that modders will save us.

Yes, this one is good example. Army passing by should see battle and join it. If you have save file of this sample I can examine it. However it seems video is from october. Probably you do not have save file of it.

I actually still have it I will send it over.

If anyone else has some concrete examples I'm sure mex would appreciate it.

well it depends, even in real life war, sometimes army is designated with certain targets, and they are not allowed to engage enemy contact unless they are under attacked

it's all about high priority target. 1000+ army is going to rescue a castle siege, and it make sense not to chase some random 100+ lord target when you are on the way for higher priority target

LOL dude do you have half your hard drive just for BL game files? :iamamoron:

Edit: No disrespect I just find it humorous that you have saves from 4 months ago and I delete characters left and right.
