ARMA II

As I'm sure any person on this board who played ARMA would know ARMA II will be out within the next month or two, and seeing there is no topic on the game in this forum I began worrying.

But any way this is the load-down for ARMA 2/II:

ARMA 2 is set in the fictional world of 'Chernarus': A fictional ex-soviet state based on the Czech Republic and is 225 S/KM in size but the whole country is not included. The war this time comes from the element of civil war: The Government in power is facing a insurgent and terrorist threat from two of the countries' leading powers: The ChDKZ (Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star) and NAPA who are a Nationalist Party who have resorted to organized violence. The Governing army is called The CDF (Chernarussian Defence Force) and it has support from two world powers who have a military prescience in the country to help the CDF. These forces are : USMC (United States Marine Corps) and RAF (Russian Armed Forces).

The Team you will be playing as is the Force Recon team code named: Razor Team, a five-man battlehardened team who's aim is to help in the elimination of the insurgent threat.

The combat is a revolution in FPS and simulation. You will have a VAST array of Military Hardware at your disposal: 73 weapons, 53 vehicles, 167 vehicle variants on land, sea and air. The A.I is also revolutionist as there are no scripts, no predetermined paths, A.I share information, provide covering and suppressing fire for other A.I and Players, They use cover in a way never seen before as the World is so big it would be impossible to script all the cover points for the A.I, instead it uses it's own intelligence to determine the closest cover, the amount of protection that cover would provide and if the enemy can hit them while they are in cover and if the A.I can shoot back. Basically whatever you can do... The A.I can do it to.

Finally the simulation itself is built on ten years of experience and the recent military tactical simulator created by BIS (Bohemia Interactive Studios) who are developing ARMA 2 which is used by the US military to train its staff on tactical situations. The bullets fly the same speed as they would, they are the same weight, same stopping power and same material effectiveness as they would be.
The guns are exactly the same characteristics as they would be in real life: Same recoil, same length, same R.O.F, same well... Everything!! The weather is also simulated to have an effect on game play: realistic rain, fog, winds etc. Realtime days and nights. And finally a populated world full of civilians, animals and everyday life.

((I will right more when I can be bothered and this ithread is to get the whole mix up right in the Fun Stuff Board.))

Well ARMA 2 is really the successor to OFP as Codemasters took the name away from Bohemia (The developers of OFP, ARMA and now ARMA2) to create a fake successor OFP2: DR. And ARMA didn't really make the cut to be OFP's successor, more like 1.5.

have you been back after patches to see if its any better mate?

I've also hear that this release will be more.. .stable than the last one.

That really doesn't say a lot tho.

Last one felt like I was masturbating every time I played it but was never allowed to get to orgasm. Frustrating, and made my hands hurt.

Haha, indeed. The shooting in OFP/ARMA feels so unsatisfactory, which is a huge turnoff for me. It's like shooting with peashooters.

ARMA didn't really get near Flashpoint in terms of gameplay for me, at least not until the add ons and the addition of the RTS a-like game mode, which Battlefield should be taking frigging notes from.

One Gigabyte of patches and it still felt horribly broken compared to Flashpiont. Especially the low variety of units made it feel unfinished when I had played Flashpoint + expansions + FDFmod. It also ran like crap and looked like crap.

Your so advertising .

Anyway thank god they fix the bugs. I have RSV2 (Yes some still play it ) and they still haven't fixed the gun sound glitch which allows gun sound to keep going at a DEFENING volume even after the player stopped firing the weapon.

Also the release of ARMA II is more advertised this time so they should have the bugs fixed before the release so they don't disappoint players who have been following the franchise since OFP.

This time, however, I think I'll get the Xbox 360 version instead of the computer just to see if it's just as good as the PC but the console will have it's advantages in some ways. Namely flying the planes and helicopters but Warfare mode will be restricted due to the limited console controls.

Even better... What if BIS and Microsoft allow this game to do what shadow run did: Allow computers and consoles to play together which would be like heaven or like chocolate milk and beer joining together to make a manly, childish and Delicious drink, could be called Coco-beerTM

It wonder what the weather will be like in ARMA 2.
It's pretty obvious that rain is involved, but what about storms, hail, sleet or Hell even snow!! That would make the online very interesting.

Than start praying or whatever you do, that the AI won't be able to see through it. Or you'll get raped in SP nonstop
But yeah, in Multiplayer this could be nice.

Well I'm sure that if said weather is in the game that Bohemia would take the necessary precautions in order to stop the A.I taking advantage of the low visibility.
