Hello!

did a search and couldn't see a post about this game!

Ark: Survival Evolved is a first person survival game where you start stranded on a strange Island Inhabited by Dinosaurs and other stranded folks.

the sky is dominated by Huge mysterious obelisks and the land is full of dinosaurs, most of which you can tame and use in your quest to survive or dominate the island.

all footage below is gameplay.

my only critic of the game is its currently a bit buggy and lacking on the optimisation front but they bring patches out almost every day so you can tell they committed to the game. take a look and if any of you already play it hit me up!

Go play theHunter: Primal then. I've played it for 36 hours total with my brothers and holy **** I am bored out of my mind of it at this point. Having a handful of dinosaurs sucks.

No. I'm just saying - you can't walk 5 feet without interacting with something and if fighting the dinosaurs feels anything like harvesting resources, then it'll be a grind of the highest order. Which I think is why there is so many fricking dinosaurs. And the developers plan on adding them even more. You can walk onto a beach and see 500 different species sitting right there. It just feels nonsensical and random and lazy.

I have been! I like it. Then again, I haven't really got very far. I tend to die from Utahraptors a lot, so I've not really managed to get very far into the game. Plus, me and the girlie spent half an hour sitting in the same spot, waiting for a T-Rex to move away so we could go loot our dead bodies from earlier, so that we could get a bow to hunt stuff with. It was tense as ****. 

But yeah. I'd appreciate more types in that game. I'd like if the Trikes moved about in herds more, but I like what I've played so far. Never seen a Quetzelcoatlus yet, though. Met Velociraptors once. Mostly been Utahs, Trexes and Trikes. But I've mostly been stuck in the bottom right hand corner of the map.

Also, there is a difference between a handful of dinosaurs and a handful of square metres that aren't covered in dinosaurs.

Ah, fair enough. If you want to see Quetzals, go to the mountain in the center of the island. The base there has pretty decent weapons. Just be glad they nerfed Quetzals, they were relentless machines of death before.

Taming the big buggers is a grind but if you get 2-3 of your friends almost no dinosaur is really difficult.

you should always tame a trike and get the saddle asap, they can harvest berries and wood at a ridiculous rate which makes the tedious task of gathering resources a fun experience.

we just finished taming a spino, took 4 an half hours but its worth it to deter the Russians that like to slaughter anyone they come into contact with..

not really no but that's if you work together in a good team and plan it out. as I said if you have some friends who will work closely with you then no dinosaur is too difficult.

we managed to tame a spinosaurus by surrounding it and all firing tranq arrows and luring it towards our base 2 out of the 4 died and it almost made its way into our base. it was super tense and loads of fun.

Like I said in some other thread, it looked really neat up until they whipped out guns and started blasting ****. I weep for the horrible car wreck that was The Stomping Lands. That game had me hyped up for a good two years. At least I didn't have the money to spend on it before dude jumped ship.

Does this do anything unique Rust or one of the five other "survival" games does? It's starting to feel like they've run out ideas.

It has dinosaurs. It's been pretty fun today, played a ton of it with my brother and his friend during his birthday.

I mean, there are other survival games with Dinosaurs - see: Beasts of Prey. Unfortunately this is the most polished one.


I have an idea for a survival game with dinosaurs, but it's not survivalcraft. And there are some other cool dinosaur games on the horizon, including a couple of spiritual successsors for Operation Genesis.

Anyone know how uploading/downloading/serverhopping characters works?
